What lousy timing!!!

One of the worst things about being braced was that I was "the girl in braces" the loner....there are 51 students in my nursing class, I was the braced girl. Okay so GET THIS!!!!

I go to clinical (where we work with patients at the hospital) on my very first day sans braces, and what do I see? Is this an illusion I ask?...

A 30 year old girl who I like but don't know real well yet WITH CERAMIC BRACES!!!!!! So she looks at me, I smile and she looks mortified and goes, " OMG! Where are your barces? I told my husband the best thing about doing this is that there is this girl in my class with them too!"

I would have done anything for a braced friend!

When I was painfully hesitant to go ahead with braces, mostly due to a lack of self confidence and expected perceptions of others at my very professional office.... I told myself it would be okay because 2 other women (out of 700 ppl in our building) have braces.

I came to work with braces and stopped by their offices for a visit... and they both informed me they were 1 or 2 weeks away from getting them off. (this was back in May).

So now I'm one in 700 in my building with braces. Ugh!

Long story short... I know what you mean!

braces

I found out that an office assistant in the high school/vo-tech I work at had SARPE also and now has braces. I work in a building of about 200.

I teach freshmen so I will have lots of kids for advice and to laugh at me. It actually makes me more comfortable knowing they are going through it too and won't be suprised when I say my teeth hurt. A couple of my students have the same ortho.

They have dealt well with the RPE and the speech problems that came with it.
