Advice

If you have finished with your orthodontic treatment and are wearing retainers (or will be soon), this is a special place to connect with others in your (enviable) situation. Ask a question or make a comment about life post-braces.

Advice

#1 Post by h4rry90 »

Hey,

I got my braces off about 6 months ago and was told by my orthodontist to wear my retainer full time until at least our next appointment. Being a complete idiot, i have only been wearing the retainer i got every couple of nights. Although my teeth haven't moved a great deal, i still feel that they are not as good as when i first got my braces off. Is it too late to start wearing my retainer full time again, and will it damage my teeth to be moving to and fro all the time?

Thanks alot. :D

Oh dear... lol

When you say every couple of nights do you mean all night? Do you not wear it in the day at all?

What sort of retainer is it that you have got?

No, i just wear it whilst sleeping every couple of days. And the retainer is the plastic one with the wire in the front.

Haven't you seen your ortho in the last 6 months?

If it doesn't fit by now, he can probably tweak it to fit.

Did you learn a lesson?

Although it might not put your teeth back completely correct, I would wear my retainer as much as possible starting....four days ago  . Definitely call the ortho!!
