Has anyone asked to see or have already seen their last set of aligners? I have 55 total and according the clin-check I should have movie star teeth when this is all done. Of course it would be ideal for my teeth to come out exactly as planned but Im trying to stay realistic and I'd be happy with a 75% improvement. Im guessing they will come pretty close (so far so good) but the chances of revisions once I reach the end are probably likely.
To keep myself from going nuts I asked my ortho and the assistants to NOT show me the last set, no matter how much I beg and plea. They laugh about it and tease me every time I'm in. I guess I'm just afraid of jinxing myself! Of course now that Im at the 1/2 way point Im getting really curious and want to see but at the same time I don't. Anyone else out there in the same boat or am I drifting alone???
i thought to be cost effective invisalign would only make so many trays because of revisions or damage to your teeth it would not make sense for a business to make all the sets and risk a large number of trays not being of any use, the ortho gives me 3 trays every 6 weeks i just assume that my ortho has my 3 plus another 3 or so
Apparently all of my aligners are there in the back room. The receptionist at the office is doing Invisalign as well and we've started about the same time. We have similar case but mine is a little more severe than hers. She pulled out her last set to tak a look as soon as they arrived, I don't think I would be so brave. Maybe the cost of the materials is really cheap and its the labor that is more consuming but who knows; for what were paying I don't think it would hurt their wallets too much to reproduce a few more trays here and there.
I peek as soon as I get in the car to see what the third aligner looks like (when the ortho gives me three at a time). I would love to see the final aligners (17 on top and 14 on the bottom) - but don't dare ask! my orthodontist isn't very friendly or sympathetic. It is totally ridiculous, because I'm an adult, I paid for this, and why the hell not ... but I don't want to give the ortho the satisfaction of saying no for some stupid reason.
I derive a good deal of satisfaction in comparing my present aligners (I'm on the 8th one) to the first ones. I can see how my bottom teeth are less crowded and the arches are wider. It motivates me to soldier on.
I am just sorry I didn't go for a few more consultations before selecting this particular orthodontist. I think she is technically very good, but she has so many patients, it is a regular factory there. She doesn't waste time on personal charm. Oh well. Soon I will be rid of her (I hope!) in January 2007.
