First curry since braces - lig colour change!

#1 Post by Lisa65 »

I'd read posts about ligs being stained but since being braced on July 14th had managed to avoid any staining.
As it's my birthday today and I am due for my first braces adjustment on Wednesday next week anyway, I thought I would celebrate being 41 by getting an Indian takeaway.
The curry was lovely although I had to cut the meat up small and chew it with my one pair of touching molars - but my hot pink ligs have turned a not altogether unattractive shade of bright orange!

Maybe I'll go for orange on Wednesday.......

The light blue powerchain I have this month turned a really pretty sea green color. For once, ligs that stain pretty! :D

I still find it weird that the bottom ligs never stain for me...just the uppers.

Anyway, congrats on the curry and the birthday! :D

I think it would be interesting to have a list of most or all of the lig colors, and what shades they turn after eating staining foods. My pink ligs also turned orange (not a bad color, just surprising) and my aqua ligs turned a bright green.
Damon 2's top and bottom, BRACED 02/22/04 and REMOVED 08/29/05. Now in bonded retainers (top and bottom) :4 wisdom teeth surgically removed on 12/22/05:

I had gotten light blue ligs which turned a seafoam green when I had a strawberry juice bar. Go figure!

Perhaps I'll ask my ortho if he has any spare ligs I can use to do a survey! :D

I'm sorry Karen, but since the testing was my idea, I have already reserved the chocolate-tasting slot  you are welcome to be the official curry tester though. :D In winter I tend to eat a lot more curry and spicy stuff but until a couple of weeks back we were having quite a hot summer here in the UK and I hadn't really been eating hot food at all, let alone spicy stuff!

I brushed the offending orange ligs with some hydrogen peroxide last night before bed but this morning they're still orange. It's not too bad a colour and I'll be getting them changed on Wednesday anyway, so I'm not too worried.

I refuse to give up on foods I like simply because they'll change my ligs' colors. And curry is the best thing EVER. So my pink ones always went a really dull pink, and my silver ones always got a green sort of hue that wasn't very noticeable except to me. I'm assuming these black ones won't change at all, but we'll see. :)
