Karen, thanks for encouragement! I really admire you :-) you are always trying to cheer us up- thanks for that!! :-**

Yes, I know ups and downs are part of our life…so I hope next time will be better.

Ok so now an update I definitely feel much better with having them on. My low in braces is gone, and I hope it will not come.
I see a bit of a change, but as soon as the last tooth will be in arch I guess it will be much more difficult to see any changes…. But I am hoping I am on a good road to the finish line.

The other day I was asked by someone why I have top braces….so…my second pre-molar was partially impacted, rotated and partly in the palate, that’s way I got top and bottom at the same time (not mentioning the crossbite). So here are some pictures:

Before:

after braced-side

after 12 weeks(I have problems with this picture...how to take it?)

after 15 weeks(3rd adj)-side
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a318/ ... 0_0575.jpg

Oh yes! The most interesting thing;-) my midline is …..more or less correct! I guess it’s not really where it should be but…well for the first time I have it:-)
O, and the other thing the partly-impacted tooth is in a wired angle …so since 6 weeks my bottom and top do not touch…but today I’ve noticed that the ‘gap’ is much smaller now! So, I hope that at the next adjustment it will be corrected so I will not have problems while eating:-)

So yesterday I had my 4rd adjustment:-)

But the trip back home was not the nice one..my Grandma passed away. So we had funeral, and my adjustment had to be rescheduled to a later time on the same day. So it was a bit wired, but on the other hand it was much nicer adjustment then any other before. Maybe because she know that I will be very sensitive on that day…I hope it will stay like that.

My orth was really talking to me, which was nice, and all of my questions where answered. The appointment was also the longest one (except of fitting the braces;-)).
So what was done- as this is THE most important thing on this front;-)
We where trying to gat thicker wire, which was rectangular to my top arch…unfortunately it did not work. My ortho said it was a bit too big step. So I got thicker one: 18 but a regular round one. On the bottom one I got thicker one but 16. So I guess I have misheard the size of my wire in August.
So my bite was carefully checked…and I was told I will get elastics (I was guessing this one ;-)) I guess this time is much closer then I think? There is only one tooth that is still not in the arch in the bottom, and the one on top which needs more work. I will have another adjustment in 4 weeks time, and one just before xmas. So that’s all planed until the end of the year.
Oh YES, I got 4 blue ligatures:-) there are really nice!! I will try more colors …but still not sure about full arch being colorful ;-)

And I got A from brushing:-)
And I started to like them again:-)

Oh, I forgot about one thing…I got something wired with the wire..it’s like it is having a small round concave…I am not sure for what? Leveling my teeth? I guess..

So pictures:

Thanks, I am really surprised how quickly the un-crowding went!! I just wonder what will happen with this large hole in my bottom arch+ how the crossbite will be corrected? But I guess next time I will ask a bit more.
I must admit that this time I felt really comfortably to ask questions. Maybe I also got used to the visits? And maybe my ortho also found a way to talk to me? I hope for the latter much more!

P.s. though I still have 13,5 months!!!

Karen, thanks!

I like the blue one as well!! I am thinking about having the whole bottom blue…well I will see:-)

I forgot about one thing! My ortho asked me what am I doing with my ligatures! The bottom one where as clean as on the first day, and the top one where a bit stained but you could not see it from distance! Well…. I dono ! I had curry once, and 3 coffees per day+ some tees as I was sick the week before….so? I really don’t know. But I like when there are clean!

I hope next time I will be as good as the last time...well a new rectangular wire will go in..so I am hoping I will not expirience a lot of pain :? but who knows- this time around there was a bit pressure, but I was able to eat normalny from the begining! which is good

So....I am back from adjustment no 5!

I must say that the last weeks were really hectic and I was not having time to post.

The adjustment went so, so… I must do something with me being too shy!

I was not asked about any thing…and I did not asked! I am a bit angry at myself.
The progress seems to be a bit slower then before….and I was suppose to have a rectangular wire on bottom…I think I got the same one -18, bottom I guess it is still 16, but I was told that before there were niti, now there are ss wires….
I was only told that next time we will reposition one bracket….. and that we are still not moving my teeth? Can someone explain me what that means?
Oh, yes..the assistant asked whether I need powerchaines….and my ortho said not yet…. So….from all the things I know that…I should get rubber bands, powerchains, rectangular wires + reposition of the bracket….somewhere in the coming ‘meetings’. Now I want to plan holidays! I badly need them…and I am not sure if I will have appointments every 4 or 5 weeks? Starting from xmas….as now we made appointments to be convenient for me and my ortho but I think she prefers to have them every 5 weeks.

And I got green ligatures!
For xmas I will go with yellow top, and green bottom- I think the one that I have now…??? Other suggestion? This (I hope) will be the only time that I will go with full colors !!! :-)

And as usual-pictures:

left side:
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a318/ ... 0_0640.jpg

I am still having troubles with palate pictueres…..

I had almost no pain...just a bit in one molar...but it was ok...as for now it is quite painless....and I am glad for that :D

Hi! Just wanted to introduce myself and let you know I was reading your story.

I found it when doing a board search for "sapphire" brackets and read all the way through. Thanks so much for sharing your story. I am just getting started (but wore braces for four years as a child) so I was very interested to read about what you've been through.

Take care!

I am definitely reading. I like how you've written about your experience and it helps so much to read it (what to expect and how to stay positive). I don't remember a lot about it from wearing braces as a kid (and I certainly didn't obsess about it then like I am now, already, before my braces are even on).

Your photos have really helped me also, because I've been trying to decide between ceramic or metal uppers. Seeing photos helps so much!

So thanks, and please keep posting. :flowerbloom:

So, now time for a proper update...

I went back home already on the 14th of December, but my appointment was on the 19th. As usually I went in, my ortho was quite positive…though there were a bit too many people…so I drop my questions, got new xmas ligatures, and….a xmas present ;-) I got a powerchain from my molar to 1st pre molar to start closing the extraction gap….. on the top 2nd pre-molar – I think the only tooth that ‘we’ are working on I got new bracket, which does have now the correct position- It was only connected on 3 corners of the bracket, but as I do not want to go back to work with all those colors I had a mini appointment on the 2nd of January…. And then with xmas wishes…I’ve noticed, she is pregnant….gosh, I am not sure what are the plans…but as it is quite big clinic there are other doc’s…..but I do not like others, and I need to feel comfortable….. so I though on the 2nd I will be able to ask…..

On the 2nd I went to change ligatures to clear one…..and I must say I feel more after the change then after the proper adjustment on the 19th of December…..The partly connected bracket got a wire tie as a ligature would be still on only 3 corners …..so all in all I feel more pressure, and my bite is a bit different! Of course again there was something so I did not ask a thing. But next time on the 23rd I will go along with my mom (my ortho does also normal dentistry – there is a bit different division so my ortho is a trained ortho, but she still does dentistry – I guess a personal choice?) so I will go first and then my mom, so I will have plenty of time…..I really do not like the idea that there will be someone else doing a thing with my teeth ….. but I guess I will have to some how accept a new person. In the mean time I already get to know that a pregnant women does have at least16 weeks off…that’s 4 months! Oh well I guess I will have to adjust to a new situation.

On the ‘picture’ front. I guess you do not see that much of a difference. There are still one in top and one in bottom to be straight with all the rest. So I just included the front one:
From 19th December (xmas )

Thanks Karen!!

I just found a very interesting page about ortho treatment (sorry only in Polish) but for the first time I sow information like on the US pages….and among those there was a description of each of the ortho and the way they are working! Gosh I found the description that is just perfect of my ortho! So I really hope a similar person will replace her !

I am not sure why but after my adjustment in Dec. I was not feeling any thing, well a bit of a pressure for a 1, 5..so normal…but now…since Monday I feel more then pressure…something between pain and pressure. I was not expecting to feel so much. And for the first time since braces are on I can touch bottom front with top front! Nice feeling, and I think my bite is becoming nicer…. Though I do not like this small bit of power chain….it was not changed this week so, it’s the same since nearly 3 weeks, and I still feel a bit of pain there+ discomfort while eating…

BTW it is nearly 7 months in braces and 10 months since cleaning, and my ortho said that there is no need for cleaning as I have very good hygiene:-)
