belmikry wrote:brandy: i agree- but it's hard to get up with that appliance in your moth ~_~...

I always have a tendancey of thinking i'm overreacting to situations like that, although I know i'm probably not- I hate confrontation in anything, so I usually let it slide. The worst part is the first day I got braces, my ortho AND these girls were making sandwiches in the back while the appliances were going in- which made me very nervous... so I don't know if she'd be that convinced about my complaints :/...

I think i'll see how it goes on my first adjusment- if I notice the ortho as well as the girls, i'll stop them right there and tell them what's on my mind- it's nice to know I may be moving for school [transfering] so most likely I won't be needing their attitude much longer- it sucks though, cause i like the ortho- [sigh]...
It's great to see some progress, girl!

And even though you're a non-confrontational person, your treatment might go better if you bring up these worries. If you don't trust your orthodontist it may be harder in the future.

Wow! You can really see the movement, especially in how that canine tooth is no longer almost all the way hidden behind your other teeth. You must be ecstatic!

okay so as an update my front teeth= pain beyond anything imaginable this week. It migrates from my right upper canine, to my impacted incisor, then oddly enough skips to my left side front tooth [which btw has the stopper on it, which was twice as painful because of that pressure] then my other front tooth, and now my right canine o_o.... i'm hoping this means my teeth are shifting to the left to make way for my impacted incisor- :P but the most annoying part is my once perfectly straight front two teeth are nowslightly pushed against eachother, making them not align properly- nothing like progress through making your teeth crooked first :? ...

Here of course, with my self-proclaimed addiction to picture taking, is some progress/update pictures:
Image
feb 14th 2006- notice this is similar picture as below- but look at how much more of the bracket you can see, plus the wire is straighter :)
Image
March 3rd 2006- yay! incisor moving! :) you can finally see the bracket :P

Image
feb 26 2006- straight no?
Image
march 3rd 2006- notice the overlap on the front teeth?

but in good news:
Image
before- first day [jan 30th 2006]
Image
march 3rd 2006- notice the one tooth on the bottom right moving in closer? that's good :P

Kim, great pictures!!

my top front tooth seems to want to overlap the other or its just moving forward...I'm not sure. Maybe its something that has to happen to fix a crossbite ? I'm defintely going to ask my ortho tomorrow (if I can remember and not just go into shock once I'm facing him) because I don't want my front tooth sticking out or do something crazy like that! lol

Great movement!!!!

update! first adjustment today, I must say- very uneventful- [I don't know if thats a good thing or bad thing!]

basically, I sat down, they checked which wires I had [something about U-14's? .14's? well, he number 14 was used...something to that degree. ..] and they opened the Damon 3 doors on the brackets, and checked to make sure there was no permenant bending of the wires- the ortho came over for only two seconds, said, "Nope- let's keep the upper on [looks at bottoms] and the bottoms, and get her in for April" I have no idea if this means I am doing slow or fast or whatever, since they really didn't stay around long enough for me to ask :? [biggest pet peeve of ortho's/dentist's: when they ask you questions when someone/something has your mouth wide open! hello! I can't answer you! :?]... but alas, she "Reactivated the wire and sent me on my way- a total of 3-5 minutes in total- I wonder if this reactivation will mean sore teeth tonight- guess I'll find out later :P...

What do you mean when you say "reactivate"? Does the assistant apply some kind of product or someting?

Hopefully by next adjustment, both are stubborn crossbites will have made significant progress. My ortho said another 3-4 months...so pretty soon :D:D

When is your next appointment?

My first adjustment is on Tuesday...hopefully mine won't be as uneventful as yours! I'm hoping for at least a new wire! Reactivate wires? Hmm...

the term they used was "reactivating" which I assume after opening the bracket doors yo check if the arch wire had any permenant kinks in it, they close the dorrs to reactivate them... [shrugs] I couldn't find any other info on it, here's a picture of the bracket to show you:

since I don't have ligs or elastics, literally all they did was look for any broken brackets or loose things, open all of the doors[2], check the wires and then re-close them- I was hoping for a new wire, but I think she's waiting until my incisor is aligned before [boooo...]

I think the reactivation just gives your mouth a moment to breathe without the wire in, then they close them and you are on your way- I don't know, anyone here with self ligators have an appointment like this?

Here's some before and afters after my first adjustment, versus my first day..
so, I guess so far the 40 days of brace wearing has been good- my wire is much straighter, and I smile more often then I ever did :)
