Major concern re: elastic bands

#1 Post by **shinyhappybraceface** »

I'm currently supposed to be wearing the "rabbit" sized elastics at night - this was prescribed at my appointment yesterday; however, I am allergic to latex. Both types of bands given to me (they differ only in color, from what I can tell) have a latex warning on the back.

I voiced my concerns to both my ortho and his hygienist, but both assured me that if I had no problems with ligs, I'd likely not have a problem with the rubber bands...

I'm really hesitant to use them and am wondering if there's someplace I could purchase latex-free elastics? I feel like my office didn't have another option or they wouldn't have given the bands to me - they're usually very good.

Thanks.

Latex free elastics are available from all manufacturers of the latex kind. Your ortho office can easliy order these. You should not have obtain them yourself nor should you.
