It hurts... SO BAD.
I got fully braced today and it hurts one one particular tooth way more than the others. Is this normal? I could cry!!
Re: It hurts... SO BAD.
I was in a lot of pain for several days after getting my braces on. Round the clock ibuprofen helped a little. What helps most is time. And it's normal for one tooth to hurt more than the surrounding teeth. It usually means more force is on that one for the moment. That will also change during your treatment. Sometimes it's one tooth, sometimes it's another. Hang in there, it's worth it. And it does get better.

Agree with Beckett. Also, as you become more accustomed to these sorts of aches and pains they are less novel, less surprising, and probably will not bother you as much in the future. Best of luck to you!

I myself had pretty crooked teeth but they never hurt to the point that I would take anything for the pain. However, you should note that teeth move in part due to inflamatory process created by the forces applied. Taking ibuprofen (or any other anti-inflammatory) will be detrimental to the orthodontic process, so I was told by my ortho.

Yes I think its completely normal!... My teeth were sooo painful for 6+ days after they were applied and continued to really irritate me for a while after. I off and on have pain in teeth that moves around and especially after an adjustment.. some of my teeth I even had to skip during brushing/flossing because it was too painful for me to even go near them!.. Hope it eases for you soon!

its normal, the pain settles afters a couple days
Re: It hurts... SO BAD.
Yes completely normal but you'll get through it one day at a time. It took over a week for my pain to subside though. I made sure I was taking ibuprofen in the middle of night as I would wake up in the morning and be pressing my tongue against my teeth and be in pain.
Just think that pain is your teeth moving so they can move to right position!
