Kissing after BSSO - does permanent numbness ruin it?

#1 Post by rickyduds »

Hi,

About to get a BSSO and LeFort I. Those of you who had or have permanent numbness (partial or total numbness) on your lips, does it ruin kissing for you? Where is the numbness?

Thank you!

A lot of people say this is the case but my lower lip and chin where numb and I don't think it would effect kissing because it only the outside skin. once it moves in towards the lip area that a cup would sit you wouldnt be numb and the inside of the mouth is not numb. So Im pretty sure people use more then just outer portion to kiss. lol

I am 4 months post-op and my lower lip and chin are still completely numb...at this point, I have no idea if I'll ever get it back. I'm not going to lie, it does make kissing feel very weird. I still have normal movement in my lips, but I can feel the top lip but not the bottom, so the sensation of kissing is different...if that makes sense. It doesn't ruin it per say, but it's definitely something I've had to get used to. Luckily, my husband is very understanding!
