Invisalign Ruined my midline?

#1 Post by KhajiitGamer »

Hi all,

I am halfway through my invisalign journey, and I initially sought treatment to restore a bad bite. (It used to be edge to edge) and fix minor alignment issues caused from not wearing a retainer after my teenage braces.

I just noticed that my midline is off and shifted to my left, this is a topic that has never come up with my Ortho and I'm not sure if it was part of his treatment plan or if there are plans to fix it. I will bring it up to him in my next visit at the end of March.

Below are two pictures. It seems bad to me, but I'm not sure how "bad" it really is, so any input, advice, or thoughts if it is fixable would be great. Just looking for a opinions

I cant say for sure I know what your ortho is planning, but my very vague guess would be that your ortho probably knows about it and it will get fixed during the refinement stages?

As far as Ive been told - orthos typically do all of the "heavy" work first then do the minor adjustments later. Its possible that your bite will get slightly worse before it gets better and becomes perfect.

As an example of this - I had self -ligating brackets (Im switching to Invisilign now after asking my ortho) and had a good midline from rubberbands but then when we changed some brackets to align the tooth roots, the midline shifted back again. My ortho said it would get fixed, but sometimes you have to go back a bit to make things better.

Thanks all!

today I had a look at the invisalign doctors site, very interesting indeed. All these decision steps, like intrude/extrude front/premolars/molars upper/lower jaw shift midline upper/lower jaw by... apply attachments to teeth numbers .... elastics in stages....

I hope your ortho didn't clcik the wrong radio button and shifted your midline the wrong way....anyway if your midline is shifting it is something your ortho requested
