First tray Second Day

#1 Post by InvisiNic »

hey everyone!

As you can tell by the title, I just got my first tray.

I'm 44 years old and had braces in grade school, didn't wear the retainer blah blah blah same old story.

I got the IPR (is that what it's called, when they sand in between your teeth?) before the tray was put in. I keep seeing everyone say it was no big deal. I'm not a person with huge dental anxiety either but this hygienist literally sawed by gum in two places in my mouth and it hurts SO bad today :|

I've been watching YouTube video after YouTube video just to kind of learn what I'm in for, any little tips I can learn, etc. I get my attachments on my next visit, Nov 14th. This is a huge anxiety thing for me. They keep telling me "You'll be the only one that notices it". I look at pictures of people with attachments and I'm pretty sure they're just saying that cause they're the ones doing them. They look hella noticeable from the pictures I've seen on google. I luckily only have to wear 14 trays which I was happily surprised by.

Also, I think I've brushed my teeth four times today already! lol! I am thinking that a good side effect of invisalign would be weight loss? I quit smoking 7 months ago and put on about 10-15 pounds so this may just work out for me :p Is anyone losing weight because of the eating restrictions while wearing the trays?

Okay enough random thoughts and questions. Just wanted to introduce myself :) I'm glad this board is here, it's nice to have a place to go to talk to others about this experience!

Congrats on getting started with your treatment.

The attachments are usually noticed by other people who have had Invisalign and our patients themselves. This is absolutely true. Act like there is nothing on your teeth, own your treatment, and you'll find that most people do not notice them on your teeth. Consider that we have a lot of adult patients in braces who tell us that their significant others did not notice that they had braces put on/taken off!

The first while with Invisalign is a bit of an adjustment, but most of our patients tell us how they start to feel strange without their aligners in as they move through their treatment. Stick with it and welcome to the board!
