I think your teeth look really great! How is that extra wire supposed to work? It looks like it is just hanging out in front-is it actually attached to your brackets?

The wire normally connects to the two front teeth, but as they are really sensitive at the moment, the Ortho said he won’t connect it there for the moment. Yep the wire is connected both back molars bracket. Its annoying, its like he forgot to include that tooth the whole time my braces have been on! Altho, my top back molars don’t have any brackets on, or molar bands, he hasn’t attached anything to the back left one, and now just a bracket to this back right one, so that it can be moved as the bottom of the tooth was basically pointing towards my cheek and it needs to be moved so the bottom of the tooth is pointing down (like a normal tooth! Haha) and now that he is playing with this tooth, my bite is completely off.. .next appointment is 11th Feb so I am going to mention to him maybe he could put a molar band on it and just connect the one wire to it! I don’t know why you wouldn’t be able to when the back bottom teeth all have brackets and molar bands on.
This is why I am kinda getting a bit concerned and he told me there was a “possibility” that they will be off before my 32nd bday (which is end of April) but right now, I don’t see that as being possible AT ALL.

Interesting that your ortho has waited until now to do something about that molar. I've got a second molar that needs to straighten up and it has been connected to the archwire since around the 4th month. It doesn't seem to have moved very much yet ( I'm almost at almost 10 months with braces). Maybe just connecting a molar to the normal archwire doesn't work very fast for some reason???I hope your molar moves fast with your new setup and your bite gets back to normal soon. Good luck!!!!

i have no idea to be honest. makes me feel like he forgot about that molar all together and is now trying to move it. I am quite annoyed to be honest...
I have another adjustment on 11 Feb so i hope he just gets rid of that wire, slaps a molar band on it, and puts in a bigger wire to just get it all moving like normal!
my bite is completely off, just when i thought everything was coming along nicely....
i forgot to mention the wire is also connected to pre-molar and a canine to hold it in place as it normally attaches to the front teeth to follow the original wire, but as my front teeth have been very tender lately as they have had a bit of pressure on them, he didnt want to add to the pain, so that was nice lol.
Re: Preparing to get Braces! - almost 30.
Okay, so thank god my next adjustment is next week. Me and my boyfriend booked a holiday to Hamilton Island for start of June and I WANT THESE THINGS OFF BY THEN! lol. I am going to beg my Ortho to do as much as possible to ensure they are off by then, i am sure they will be, but the way my bite is at the moment thanks to the movement of the very back right molar, it is way off! I am hoping this tooth can be straightened and moved fast from now on, cos i think once that tooth is done, i should be A OK! lol.
This is my fun bite at the moment... for me who likes things even and straight, it drives me crazy....... kinda like an OCD thing! lol. it is raised at the right side. ugh!
I will check it at my next adjustment to see what is going on! i dont care how much pain it is, i just want these things off by June! lol. That will be over 2 years, and i have had enough!
I dunno if they will put me back in elastics to even the sides out, but i dont care, its soooo uneven and off putting! i cant even look at that pic LOL.

Hi Rhibee, how are you getting on? It seems like ages since we posted on each others blogs. Sorry to hear you have been having some trouble with your bite, having this issue so close to the end must be really frustrating. If you are aiming for an early summer completion, I will be racing you to the finish line as I'm about done then too! Hope you manage to find out what's happening and what can be done about that molar. How are you getting on with the second arch wire? Does it get in the way? Look forward to hearing how you get on at your next appointment.

Must be the day to check in on here! How are you two doing ? Rhibee, Looking really nice! I should be about done with mine late spring /early summer.

I know, I don’t come on my blog that often anymore. I am going alright thanks, but yes, not really loving my bite at the moment! I just want my next appointment to hurry up. That is exciting that your teeth are nearly done too!! They are looking awesome, I was just looking at your blog yesterday.
The second archwire is going ok, I don’t really notice it anymore, but I hope that it goes at my next appointment. Would be good if they could just chuck a molar band on this molar and then connect the usual archwire to it with a chain. I think that would get it moving! Lol but then again, I am not orthodontist so I have no idea. I would just like these to be off soon, so I am hoping!!
I will update more after my appointment on 11th Feb!

I am going alright. Thanks! I think my teeth are going okay but just not loving my lop sided bite at the moment!!
I live in Australia, so it is already summer here i am hoping to be done by end of April, but i doubt it. May or June would be okay, that is our winter here. Blah! haha. As long as they are off by June i will be happy cos me and my boyfriend are going away in June and i would like them to be off by then!
Hope all is going well with you and i will check in again after my next adjustment on the 11th Feb!
Re: Preparing to get Braces! - almost 30.

I know my ortho is going to start thinking i am "that" patient who starts going on and on about when they will be off, but come on!!! lol
I will check in tomorrow night once i have had my adjustment and update with HOPEFULLY good news!

Re: Preparing to get Braces! - almost 30.
So, my adjustment, well, uneventful and I am quite disheartened.
I have an elastic from my bottom tooth to my top molar (that isn’t even attached to the molar they are trying to move). The Ortho said that even tho the elastic is not on the molar they are moving, it should pull the other molar inline. HOW, I have NO IDEA…
My appointment seriously took 5 seconds, and he doesn’t even think they will be off by June… I am starting to get really disappointed and annoyed about it all…. EVERYONE keeps saying “think of the end result” “don’t rush it” etc but at the moment that means nothing to me and I just can’t even be bothered with this anymore. I am just over it and wanted them to be off before our holiday in June so that I could celebrate, and now, they probably won’t be unless I “wear the heck out of the elastics” as the Ortho said. He has told me I can double up and also gave me stronger ones instead if I want. I only have one on at the moment as my teeth are quite sore, but I reckon after a week I will double up. I want this over with.
Anyway, a disappointing appointment and I am sure my Ortho is getting annoyed at me for asking all the time. whatever, I have paid him and I just want this done now.

Re: Preparing to get Braces! - almost 30.
So... No one is answering my query about wearing an elastic from top to bottom teeth to move the tooth NEXT TO the tooth with the elastic on. To me this sounds like bullsh!t and I don't see this god damn molar moving anytime soon and all it's doing is stuffing my bite up even more!! Does it seem right to anyone!!???
Re: Preparing to get Braces! - almost 30.
Hi Rhibee,
Sending you big hugs from afar! Sorry to hear of your recent appointment and your continued frustrations. Have just moved house so will send you a proper reply in the next few days once I'm a little bit more back to normal.

Thanks NeilH, it has been very frustrating!NeilH wrote:Hi Rhibee,

I contacted an Ortho via "ask an Ortho" LOL i just found it online, anyway he said that the elastic is being used as an anchor to pull the molar down so that the second wire can extend straight and not get blocked by the molar, so that the back molar they are trying to move can straighten out. so it does actually make sense. I should of just asked my Ortho while i was there, but you know i was just so annoyed i didnt even think of asking him! haha. my mind was all about them coming off.
So.... i think its going to take a while, but this molar has to move and be straight inline basically until these come off and i think its going to take a long time which is very dissappointing. at this rate i will still have them on at Christmas! ugh god i hope not!!
I have super thick tight elastic on the tooth so hopefully movement will start soon.... FINGERS CROSSED...
i am going to try and take some pictures later on tonight, its a bit hard when all i have is my phone, and its at the back of my mouth, but will see how i go.
