I just went to pick up my essix, and was told to only wear them at night, and *not* to wear them during the day. Has anyone ever heard of that before? I thought everyone had to wear them 24/7 at first. Should I do it anyway?
So, the bracket removal was painful. Almost all of them hurt at least a little, but the two ceramics on my lateral incisors (which were just put there a few months ago when I had them repositioned) were *excruciating* to get off!!! The assistant was rocking my tooth back and forth just like my oral surgeon does when he pulls my molars out!! It was horrible. There is a crack on one of them that I know she did. I was squirming and making a lot of noise, so she just left those on and I had to wait at least 20 minutes for the ortho to come take them off himself. Then they came right off. The second worst part was holding my mouth open for so long while he polished away the glue. I kept getting a cramp in my jaw or something.
I am 6 weeks pregnant (nausea!) and I had the beginning of a migraine while I was tilted back for 45 minutes with the brightest lights in the world shining right in my eyes (closing them didn't seem to make much of a difference) and searing my brain. Was so glad to sit up finally!
But then the impressions! The bottom one wasn't so bad, gag-wise. Except for the taste it left in my mouth. Then they had redo it. The top one was over-packed with the stuff, and it went all the way to my throat when I put my teeth into the tray..
Beautiful results! Ugh the debanding sounds like a nightmare but you made it through and now you won't have to worry about having braces for the rest of your pregnancy! Will you have to get that cracked tooth crowned? That's one of my anxieties, that they'll break my teeth taking off my brackets. I hope it works out for you! Congratulations!
