@ Kimmie - those ribs were delicious!! :-* Thank you!! (How did you know I love ribs??!!!). The elastics were mentioned at my previous appointment by my ortho's assistant but I thought 'yeah right...like she'd know...not straight after extractions...' lol :) Mental note: never second guess the ortho's assistant! I'm sure you'll get your elastics soon Kimmie!! Enjoy not having them while you can! And have you tried royal blue yet for ligs? Have fun making your selection!!

@ Gilly - Thanks!! The first couple of days were pretty bad but I'm starting to feel a little more human today :)

@ Everyone - Elastics are not fun when you first get them! They hurt :ouch: - yes you guessed that one - but the thing that I'm not enjoying is taking them on and off to eat/brush teeth. The teeth that they are hooking onto are so sore that taking the pressure off hurts and then putting the pressure back on hurts even more! And as careful as I'm being (especially around the fresh extraction sites) I still sometimes slip and miss the hook and the elastic snaps in my mouth! But after a few days, I'm starting to get used to them and the pain is now just turning into normal 'teeth moving' type pain and taking them on and off are hurting a lot less! So I guess things should really start feeling better soon and I can start eating properly again!! Hooray!!

Here are some updated photos but they may be a little dark because I took them tonight:

I am glad you are doing better CC!!! I had no idea was your favorite food. Lol. You could have eaten them with fresh extraction site bc all you had to do was swallow them because they were that fall off the bone tender. Now I know the restaurant to go to for ribs because they are "Braces friendly" ribs. I hope your pain lessen soons with the elastics!!! Well you know I will reveal the new colors on TUESDAY!!! I had a weird dream they gave me bite turbos at my visit. I am really hoping that was JUST a DREAM!! Take care.

OUCH! Snapped elastics in your mouth do not sound like fun. Your teeth are looking great. Glad everything is settling down for you though:)

@ Kimmie - Where's my flight! I'm coming for ribs ;) I have been missing them like crazy (and the places that sell ribs here make them too tough! :P) And wow a bite turbo dream!! That's a new one! :) I haven't had too many teeth dreams lately (thankfully!!!).

@ Gilly - Thanks! I'm so used to the elastics now I hardly notice them which is great! And my bite is really coming together nicely! Yay!

Our smiles are really coming together now!! It's so great sharing this journey with you all! :)

Hey fellow Aussie! Thanks for posting on my thread! Glad to see another Aussie on the boards. Just read your thread and your extractions did not sound pleasant at all! Good to hear things are better now though. What state are you based at? I'm in VIC!

UPDATE 3rd Adjustment

Hi everyone!! I've just come back from holidays so I'm sorry for the late update! So here goes:

* I had a bracket repositioned on one of my lower teeth and a metal lig tied to it to help it straighten up better.

* I no longer need the two elastics for my overbite but they have now been replaced with 4 elastics that are meant to be closing up my extraction gaps which are hooked horizontally from back molar to canine all around.

* I have both upper and lower complete POWERCHAINS that are adding extra pulling power to close all the gaps! (hooray I'm in powerchain land!!! :jump:)

So as you can imagine the first couple of days were awful (especially the teeth that had both powerchain AND elastics attached) and because I was on holiday I just stuck to the fish (I followed your lead Kimmie :)). I'm feeling much better now and can eat normally (actually I was expecting it to be worse so I'm glad about that!!) And I'm seeing my gaps close up more and more each day!! The only problem I have is that my wires at the back are growing and my ortho closes between 21 Dec and 14 Jan!!! So too bad if they start slashing my mouth open during that time :ouch: !!

Anyway I have a photo for you all! I chose silver ligs because I haven't tried them yet and was just curious (I'm finding them boring but neater looking I think?)

Hope everyone is doing well!! Until next time!! :rose:

CC!!
Congrats on making it to POWERCHAIN LAND!!! The silver ligs actually look good on you. I am glad I could set an example on eating fish during the time of pain. Your teeth are are looking like mine in the front where your two front teeth touch your bottoms. Every time I eat I feel like I am going to chip a tooth because they hit every time I chew. Do yours do the same?? Well I hope everything else is going well for you my friend.

Cheers Ravin! :-1

And thanks Kimmie!!

Yes my teeth do hit at the front but only by a little bit at the moment (although this may change once the gaps close more). I'm not noticing it as much as you seem to be though! Perhaps you should give your ortho a call and check that it's okay for your teeth to be hitting so much? (might put your mind at ease??).

Looks great cc!

I totally relate with the wires sticking out at the back! I'm going to my ortho tomorrow to get mine trimmed actually. Wax helps but it comes off as soon as you start to eat! Hope it doesn't bother you too much!!

Thanks Lawyer :) And thanks for the advice -I'll get the wax ready! I was going to get the wires cut today (their last day) but there's not really enough to cut but I am feeling lots of pain so I have no doubt that in 3 weeks I'm going to have lots of wire hanging out!

Hey!

I actually really like the silver. It kinda looks like a bracelet on your teeth...a teethlet? :? Full powerchains AND elastics! Oh dear god, that must have been hell! Seems like things have settled down considerably though, so that's good:)

I also had a couple of brackets repositioned today. I've heard some horror stories about people saying getting the braket plucked off felt like their tooth was being pulled out! I didn't feel a thing. And the sanding of the old glue was fine too. I hope your experience was like mine and not like the others :soremouth:

Hope your holidays were wonderful
