That's great about the new appointment.

YES EAT, EAT everything you can, just joking, but go enjoy some things you have to bite into, anything chewy, anything that will stain your ligs.

Good luck, and remember to breath, your almost at the start line!!!

Now you will have the weekend to get used to them and stare in the mirror for hours!!!!

it's been record breaking cold here......in the teens at night and wind chill in the single digits....rought stuff for dallas, texas. i had a head cold two weeks ago and thought i was over it.....now i seem to have another one, two days before the braces go on!! i was tossing and turning most of last night, wondering how i would breathe through my nose while they are putting on the braces for an hour and a half or so. do you ever get to swallow.....i can't imagine having my mouth open for that long and not being able to swallow. that was sort of freaking me out. i think i clenched my teeth the entire night even with the nightguard.....i 'm getting nervous to put it mildly....have such a headache and cough...but i'm NOT canceling, after they canceled on me on monday. if i had tuberculosis, i would keep the appointment!! which is kind of how i feel w/ this nasty cough and headache. :yuck:

sorry to carry on so......

Oh sweetie - I'm so sorry you're feeling badly again! Ugh!

I was in the chair for over two hours (busy practice, one ortho on duty) and you will be able to swallow. It really is not that hard to get the braces on. You lie back in a chair and your mouth is open the whole time, so I would recommend you put on a thick layer of lip balm before they put your cheek extractors in. When you see videos or pictures of someone with cheek extractors on, it LOOKS a whole lot worse than it feels. They will do everything they can to make sure you're comfortable as possible so don't worry about that part.

I hope you can rest easily - it's so difficult to wait! Before you know it, you'll be a Brace Face like the rest of us!

Hang in there!
Marci

Sorry you are not feeling good, Maybe take an advil cold and sinus an hour before or use a neti pot (I prefer the squeeze bottle type) to get rid of that stuffy feeling.

I only had my mouth stuck open for maybe 15-30 min max and then I got up about 4 times to rinse my mouth, look in the mirror, pee and she was busy putting the molar bands in for the rest of the hour. So from my experience it wasn't like getting a filling and being trapped for a long time.

Good luck!! I would take something though to feel better.

Sorry you are cold down in Texas, I am in Canada so I am used to the cold but ready for winter to be over and the sun to make an appearance again.

Good luck and remember BREATH it's not so bad, it's my 4 weeks today, it went crazy fast. The anxiety is the worst part.

ellebraced, sjeanine, marilous:

thanks so much for your well wishes. my husband is really angry, he wants me to cancel the braces appoint because i am so sick.....but....i just don't want to

he says i'm being really selfish in exposing the office to my cold.....i suppose he's right about that but it's too late to cancel....office is closed. we'll see what tomorrow brings. :yuck: i'm trying to drink lots of fluids and i'm going to stay home from work tomorrow to try to get over this thing...anyway. if i wasn't so sick i would go into work after braces....but i am pretty nastily sick :yuck: :yuck: :yuck:

Try and gets lots of rest. Hopefully you feel better! If you still feel poorly, you may want to reschedule for Monday. Give you the weekend to feel better.

I'm sure if you show up for your appointment feeling as terrible as you seem to be feeling, they'll tell you to come back later. But I'm sure they've dealt with lots of snotty children so they're used to it! :D
