They're Off! Debanded 11/23 w/pics

Hi Everyone!

My braces are finally off! I could not be happier with the results. The removal process was not too bad. The only uncomfortable part was the glue removal. The cold air was really tough on my sensitive teeth. The first thing I did was eat some Tootsie Rolls!

Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences with me. I could not have gone through this without the support of all of you. This forum gave me the confidence to make the decision to get braces at the age of 34. Any second thoughts I had were diminished by those who have undergone the process before me.

I am truly grateful to all of you. Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Perhaps it's just the angle, but your upper lip especially looks a lot fuller as well. Your post reminded me that I need to find my camera!

Hi RedDress,

I bleached my teeth the week before I had braces put on. After that, I was really careful about what I ate and drank while braced. I also used an electric toothbrush with whitening toothpaste. It didn't hurt that I was so anal about cleaning my teeth while I was braced.

Thanks for the comment!

Hi hal2me - I've become very anal about cleaning my teeth too now. Just wondering if anyone has ever use baking soda with much success? I'm trying it now just to help with stains because I drink coffee. My teeth are not very attractive right now with these braces on. Any suggestions?

Hi soultattoo!

Baking soda is supposed to be a great natural way to clean your teeth. I've heard that it does have great whitening potential. However, if you drink coffee, the baking soda will not work. Have you tried drinking coffee with a straw? That way it won't stain your teeth as bad.

Hope this helps!

It seems to work a little bit but not quite enough. Drinking coffee through a straw is not something I'd think of doing but yes, I will try it. Thanks!
