They're off!

#1 Post by Steph in Sac »

I just got my braces off yesterday and thought I'd post my experience. I know I was curious about debanding while still in them. I have a permanent retainer that I'll address in the life after braces forum...

I only had a lower set: 4 metal brackets, the rest ceramic, no molar bands. The metal brackets popped off in spam-seconds and were a piece of cake! Then, before removing the ceramic brackets, my ortho had me bite down on a huge piece of wax to stabilize my teeth. :o Most of them came off with a good tug. (These are ICE brackets which apparently come with a specialized removal tool tailored especially for ICE.) The last two brackets on my front teeth took considerably more work. I thought he was going to pull my teeth off. Once everything was off, he drilled/sanded the glue off. That wasn't horrible, but with all of the cold air being blown into my mouth, there were definitely sensative areas. They polished, I rinsed, and my teeth felt fantastic!!

Thanks for sharing your experience! My braces are coming off on the 23rd and I am starting to have some anxiety. Reading this put me at ease.

Thanks again!
