It's an advancement of your lower jaw. It's not guaranteed to improve your profile.

Well, it's the way you so vaguely asked the question really. Those which deficient chins/underdeveloped lower jaws will benefit from a mandibular advancement, both functionally and aesthetically. Just research into it more and be more specific with what you are asking.

"ok...i just wanted to know why it wouldnt improve my profile". That comment makes no sense. It implies that mandibular advancement definitely won't improve your profile. If you want better opinions then you should post a profile view picture.

You sound extremely immature. Not a good way to get people to help you.

well instead of calling me names, why NOT try to HELP me then?......

all that person said was its not guaranteed to improve my profile and i just wanted to know why...because an oral surgeon said it would.

 And I'm not immature, just confused....like everyone else here...

Your questions are too vague. The benefits or consequences of surgery are more specific to the individual. If another person has a great cosmetic outcome(or a negative outcome) it doesn't mean that you will have the same. I suggested that you post a profile view. That's the best way to get advice that is specific to your case......

The primary purpose of the surgery is to improve your bite, but shifting your jaw will affect your profile as well. If the surgeon has looked at you and your information and has determined that he/she thinks it will improve your profile, then my guess is that it would.

If you are trying to determine whether you would like the results or not, that's a personal thing. From perusing this board for almost a year, most people are happy with the results, but some have a hard time adjusting to the new face.
