VIOlight

#1 Post by TimSeattle »

Anyone have any experience using the new ultraviolight light toothbrush sterilizing system, VIOlight? I read about it in the news section of Archwired, but have not seen any other reviews, personal stories, etc. I'm thinking of purchasing one of these. I did write to the manufacturer and found that the system can handle just about any size toothbrush, including Sonicare, which is what I have.

Tim,

How much did the company say it would cost retail? Yes, it does sound interesting.

Lynn,

They're listed at 50 bucks. The cheapest I've seen new ones at is $45 on ebay....

I bought a Violight about 3 months ago - this was pre-braces, as I've had my "speed braces" only about 3 weeks now. I thought the Violight would help keep the germs down in a household with 2 children bringing home every kind of germ there is... Of course, I have no idea as to if it really works - I assume it does. It holds 4 brushes. I do not have a Sonicare, so I don't know if those brushes fit or not. You brush, pop your toothbrush in the unit, push a button and it starts to glow an unearthly violet color - killing germs all the while I suppose. The only negative thing I would say, is that it seems to leave a mildly unpleasant odor on the toothbrush. I'm not sure what that is about exactly... The odor of germ corpses? I would buy it again, I guess.
