Hi Ken, thank you for the advice on starting stories. I've found it's possible to cut and paste, but all the tickers and avatars get lost..
I'm going to NY (city) for a week and then hiring a car and travelling around Vermont. The scariest things will be driving out of central NY (I'll be happy to let my partner do that) and cleaning my teeth in the aircraft while immense queues build up outside the toilet door!
It sounds like my fantasy of seeing lots of brace faces in the US may come to nothing (even though I'm sure braces are more common than here). Like you my ortho has some adult patients, and on my BDay the patient before me was an adult - sadly I didn't get to see his mouth.
The only nice car I've had was a Reliant Scimitar. It was beautiful, but constantly strained the patience of the RAC breakdown people.... Anyway it is not a lot of fun driving in the UK these days as there are speed cameras all over the place - it is a real pain..

Ken:
Seems your story has a few turns in it. Do you think you'll ever get done?
On a side note, does your Vega have any "history" to it? I'm sure old Vegas like that are like Camaro Funny Cars. Seems everyone with an early 70s Camaro knows" its an old JJ car. I'm sure with a Vega, a lot of sellers are convinced it was Grumps Toy XII.

Hey Ken!

Thanks for coming in and checkin' on me over in my thread... it's alright, I do the whole "read and not comment" thing sometimes, too. :D

You're a car guy, eh? Well, my Dad's got a 1968 corvette stingray... I love that thing. He bought it when he was 19, still has it almost 30 years later! Made it through school, a marriage, two kids and a divorce!

Talk to you later, and hope everything's going well!

ssfw wrote: it makes it easier to update your journey by bringing up your prior post and changing the subject line, for example, updated pictures - 10/2/06. If you keep it like a diary and have all of the entries of your ortho journey in one place then a person can see what you have been through from start to finish.
I did this when I added pictures to my post, and I noticed that it didn't change the date of my post. My entry didn't move to the top of the list, so it wasn't obvious that I'd changed it. Did I do something wrong?

Way back over a page ago was pleased to read you thought rte 100 was a good drive - that was the first thing (reading in the guidebook) made me think that Vermont would be good. The skiing must be amazing there, but I'm planning on some walking/hiking. Maple syrup sounds yum, too - have to keep the toothbrush to hand! Thanks for the info.

nothing happening

#292 Post by LongInTheT »

Do you ever get the feeling that nothing is happening with your teeth, that they are even about to get a little boring? Anyway, that is how I feel at present - no movement, braces here just for a bit of very odd decoration...
Anyway, I'm about to check out Killington (mountain? you mentioned way back). I'm totally obsessed by this trip to the States, and maybe that is distracting me from the braces. Places I'm staying in Vermont are 1) Bratlebury, 2) near Montpilier in the country and 3)Rochester. 2 of the places are B and Bs, which will be intriguing as I guess the food will be different from B and Bs here (English Breakfasts of bacon, fried eggs, fried bread, fried tomato, sometimes black pudding or hash browns - oh and in Wales the same thing called Welsh Breakfasts)...
Hope your teeth are on the move and that your adjustment went well.

Ken:
I hope your adjustment went well. I hope you're hearing good news and your tongue rake is scheduled to torment you soon. The sooner you start, the sooner you'll finish.

On my blog you asked about the 1000 foot limit. I'm really unsure about it. NHRA needs to do something in that many of their tracks lack run off space. That has been a common problem for years. I remember helping Frakes and Funk get corn our of the Kentucky Moonshiner dragster in about 1973. One problem NHRA faces is that they are land locked with developments in the way of extended shut off areas. The 1000 feet issue has been debated before. The last time was during the insurance crisis of 1993 (?). I think the logic was that shortening the track would reduce cost to the racers versus some other changes. I'm not sure that's the case. I'm sure the top racers have made numerous test runs to calculate what changes are required to offer top performance. Hopefully NHRA will also correct ETs so that don't drop into the 3s.

If I were NHRA, I'd post that the 1000 foot mark would be used until either the US National or the 2009 season. At that point, all top fuel cars would run a spec fuel pump which delivered significantly less volume. That way people could use up their parts and with the smaller pump, they could go back to a quarter mile.

I do know that something has to be done. While racing was dangerous in the fifties, with lawyers and mass media today, many more fatalities will kill the sport.

Thanks for dropping by on 'my story' -
I do appreciate it. Yes I will have to learn to be patient.... but when you have spend so much money on something I want to see the results ASAP.....LOL

But my bite has changed considerable now- my teeth used to meet in the middle no overbite at all!- but now there is a gap and they dont meet at all when I close my mouth. This is because of a tooth moving at the back its crossing over the bottom tooth at the moment (I have a cross bite) so there is movement now but very annoying as I can't chew or eat properly as to much pressure on this single tooth may make it crack!

Great changes!!

#299 Post by bracesweden »

Hey Ken,

Thanks a ton for leaving some comments at my "dental diary". Any help/comments/suggestions are welcome - more so because I have not yet been braced - it feels like the d-day is NEVER going to come! :-=

By the way, I see great improvement with your braces. I am not sure what kind of ligs they use in Sweden - I have not seen anyone with colorful bands/ligs at all...so I guess we get something else. Will know more when I get mine.

Keep up the good work!!!

Ciao for now,

P

Hey, I think I'll be in contention as well for one of the last placers! Don't cout me out! 2 years, 7 months as of four days ago. It's been quite strange to see some of the people who got braces AFTER me move on. It's okay, though, it all ends the same.

Hope everything's going well, Ken!
