center bend in archwire

center bend in archwire

i have a center triangle shaped bend in the upper archwire between my front two teeth. does anyone know what this is for?

OH MY GOD i've been wondering what this bend in my upper wire was for! Only mine isnt a triangle, its like a square dip. I thought it was to move my teeth some special way. :?
