Things you don't want to hear....

#1 Post by Delag »

.....while sitting in the orthodontist chair:

*Hmmmm....now how did that get over there?

*I'm just going to solder this in your mouth.

*Let's see, if that one is an incisor and that one is a molar, then that one must be.....

*Our regular dental tools are on the fritz, but don't worry, I brought my power tools from home.

*OOPS!

*Let's see if I can do this without breaking anything this time.

*Wow, I've never seen anything like that before!

*Oh, you wanted me to straighten ALL your teeth?

*Hee hee, this is gonna hurt tomorrow.

*Let's pull out the big guns. Someone bring me a hammer.

*I just saw a demonstration of this new tenique and you are the first patient I am going to try it out on.

*Isn't it amazing that you can get an orthodontics degree online?

*I didn't get any sleep last night. Let's get started on that IPR now.

*You know, I think this would have looked better if we hadn't extracted those teeth.

*Yum, looks like you had a hamburger, fries and oreo blizzard for lunch.

Yes folks, this is how I spend my time in the ortho's waiting room

At my last adjustment when she was working on my mouth, my ortho said 'Oops!' then paused to wait for my reaction, and, getting none, said 'Aw, you're no fun.'

Hihi,

when I read that, I first thought it was you writing down a conversation that happened
when you saw your ortho. After some lines, it was ... obvious you are ... joking. Now,
draw funny pictures to add these and you can make money out of it ...

 that's funny!

oh she did also say, "if I press harder this bracket is so coming off!"

Does anyone's assistants ever make them help them? lol

They're always like sometimes I wish I had more then two hands and at a few appointments they've asked me to hold the wire in place or hold the tools in my hand! I'm like wait a sec. do I get a paycheck with this adjustment as well?!

I was trying to think up some of the things I have heard in the chair.

So one tech was putting on some power chains and was struggling with one bracket/tooth. After trying unsuccessfully for 5-10min (and intense pain might i add) she turns to another tech and says: "Can you help me with this tooth? Hold this part while I apply all of the pressure." Needless to say, I left a pool of sweat in the chair.

*Let's see, if that one is an incisor and that one is a molar, then that one must be.....

*OOPS!

I've heard Oops on a number of occasions especially when my orthodontist was trying to attach my impacted canine to the wire. Always makes you feel good! haha

*Let's see if I can do this without breaking anything this time.

One time, my ortho broke the chain to my impacted canine and had to go up into my gum and find the next loop on the chain. It made me bleed and he jabbed a piece of gauze up against the roof of my mouth and asked if I was okay!

*Wow, I've never seen anything like that before!

Or, that's not what was supposed to happen...

*this is gonna hurt tomorrow.

*You know, I think this would have looked better if we hadn't extracted those teeth.

When I got my braces off, my orthodontist told me that my lower retainer would help move my teeth because they were tilted inward because he had had two teeth extracted... Well, maybe you shouldn't have extracted them!

or, once he asked an assistant to fix the wire for my impacted canine because he couldn't focus.. Or, he'd have to ask an assistant to come pull on a chain so he could attach a wire, so I would have 4 hands in my tiny mouth at once...

Or my all time favorite, Hey, its my most complicated case! I remember once he listed off to himself everything that was wrong with my teeth!

Heard all of these before! These were awesome!
