A friend of mine used to braid people's hair into microbraids, and instead of using hair rubber bands she used the elastics for her braces. I'm sure none of you will want to do that, but I remember her telling me she never wore her elastics, using them as hair accessories instead.
I have tons of bags of elastics everywhere too, every time I go to an ortho appointment the ortho makes me get more. She says 'Keep them on you at all times!' As a result, I have about 5 bags in my house, 3 in my car, 2 in my purse.
So what will I do with them when I'm BRACE FREE? I don't know, maybe I'll have her braid my hair.
Linda: Your teeth are looking great! Like Meryaten, I wouldn't have noticed the difference if you hadn't pointed it out first. I'm glad things are working out for you!

Hi Linda21! I think it was a really good idea that you went in when you noticed a potential problem, and received the reassurance and fix that you did! Your ortho sounds fantastic, as always.
No need to be embarrassed--I'm sure you and your ortho were relieved the problem was just shadowing and not a gap!
How cool that just a little tweaking resulted in that left lower lateral behaving itself again!
Your teeth look amazing in those photos!

That is such great news Linda!! Congratulations on getting your de-banding appointment set up!!
I'm looking forward to seeing the pics of your newly appliance-free teeth!
My Ortho actually received her MSD in Orthodontics at this exact school (although, her DDS was completed at Columbia University) so after reading this tidbit, which I didn't know, I now understand why she's such a firm believer in lower bonded retainers.

On a side note, the above mentioned school is where I am currently attending so it was a nice surprise seeing that it was mentioned across the world in an Ortho office."The teeth that shift the most are the lower front teeth. For a study at the University of Washington at Seattle, retaining wires were left in place for more than 10 years. After removal of the wire some people's teeth started to move within 9 months. To ensure that the teeth stay acceptably aligned, the lower wire should stay in place and be maintained for the rest of your life. The upper wire is not as critical and can be removed after 5 to 10 years."

Hi Linda21!
I'm so happy to hear about how well your appointment was, and that it was zip-zip-zip and your new bonded retainers were in!
Great to hear about the study--thank you for sharing that!
I can't wait to hear how the retainers treat you in the next couple of days, and am just so excited for you that they're on and you are almost ready for de-banding!
