Hey Denise, I was just catching up on your story. I had an adjustment yesterday too! And it was somewhat torturous for my lowers as well as I moved up to a rectangular archwire. So I feel you on the discomfort sister! I've also had some twisted molars as well. Those are never fun.

Looks like things are progressing quite well for you. I like your former pink and blue ligs. I'm sporting those two right now. Though it's not my favorite color choice to date that's for sure. I REALLY like your pink and purple though. My two favorite colors :D I've done that combo. Definately will have to do it again in the near future.

I had a similar run in with a piece of archwire when I first got braced. I was driving to work from the ortho (thinking what have I just gotten myself into ) and felt something stab me in the tongue, spat it out and it was a good inch sized piece of archwire  I also second the best archwire clipping you and Karen mentioned. Definately the best clippings I get are done outside the band. Wen they clip it while in the band there's always a bit of sharp and very pokey wire sticking out the end. The clippers can't get close enough to the tube unfortunately.

I never got to replying to your comment on my story. I wouldn't be suprised if I ran into your sister at the river. We stay in the Parker/Havasu area. Our place is actually in Parker, but we are in Havasu quite a bit making stops at Walmart, Home Depot, and Scotty's (best broasted chicken anywhere). It definately is a small world. We run into people all the time at home that we met at the river.

Hi Denise!

I'm new here, just got braced last Tuesday. I've been reading your story. Trying to get an idea what I'm in for! Also wanted to tell you I have the same furniture you do!!! I got mine last August and I love it! The sofa is so big and comfy, we really enjoy it. Keep up the great post, they are very inspiring! At 35 I never dreamed I would be taking this journey. I'm not alone though, my 15 yr. old daughter had her braces put on the same day! :D Hope to read more soon!

Thanks for the "Welcome" Denise! :D I live around the Baton Rouge area, don't know much about Vidalia. Funny you should mention Disney, we go every year! This year we will be there from May 25 - June 08. Can't wait!!!! I hope I will not be in need of an ortho while there, but I guess I could find one in a pinch! My next visit to my ortho is not till June 11.

Hey Denise, I am feeling much better from my adjustment! But again, I feel you on the canker sore. I have one on the back of my throat and it too hurts to talk, eat, and swallow. I won't hijack your thread, but if at all interested check out my story as I just updated with a full account and lovely picture of the torturous thing.

I like the blue and white idea for Cinderella. My favorite princess is Belle (my mom has called me Mel Belle since I was a baby) so I would be kinda stuck with yellow  But have fun at Disneyworld (I assume)!

Tamiel, since you're in Baton Rouge, LA I'm assuming the Disney you are referring to is Disneyworld. But if it is Disneyland I could refer my orth as I am about 10 minutes (no traffic) away from Disneyland  You go once a year... I go about once a week, lol. If you do frequent Disneyworld I would really suggest Disneyland for a change sometime... weather is MUCH better (no humidity and a bit cooler) and it is the original house of mouse :D
Sorry for the thread hijack Denise  Guess I ended up doing one anyways

Anywho, glad to hear you have adjusted and hope your sore heals quickly. I've had mine for about a week now, the end must be near...

Hey Denise! I'm catching up on your story; I haven't been getting all my notifications and didn't know you posted!

Hope the sores in your mouth are getting better, sometimes I think that's the worst part of treatment. :? The pecan pie sounds like it was probably worth the discomfort; I mean, come on! It's PIE!

I know what you mean about clenching your teeth together for that "sensation" when all the surfaces meet. It does feel good in a way. I think it might be because my teeth never did that before, at least not in that way!

Looking forward to more updates, keep well!

Glad to hear your sores healed up, Denise! I use the floss with the one stiff end, and once I got used to it, found it really, really easy. I can't imagine going back to the loops! Also good to hear your arches are rounding out and your bite is feeling better; that's always a nice feeling!

Good luck to you finding a new position in the near future and not having to "sub it" for too long. I know several teachers and aspiring teachers, and they all long for their own classroom... I don't know how teachers do it - I don't think I could put up with other people's kids for hours on end every day! You must be a saint or something! Glad to hear your principal was understanding as well, no sense in burning bridges.

Good luck to you!

WOW! Denise, your teeth look great! Nice pics.
I know this is silly but they say if you have cankers sores to eat the white meat or breast of chicken. I know this has worked for me in the past- I read this in a book quite a while back.

Oh how irritating your band came loose, Denise! I hope your ortho is in and able to fix it asap!

Wow, end of the year for you guys already???? The kids here still have another three weeks, I think. Congrats to your son for getting a custom-award, it's got to be pleasing as a parent to know you did such a great job!

Oh no! The 5th? That stinks!

I work in a school too. I'm curious as to how the kids will act when I go back to school in August with a metal mouth!

Here's to progress! I'm a bit ambivalent about elastics when it's time for them as well. I know it will mean it's that closer to the end yet the don't sound very fun.

Oh boy, congrats on the elastics! They are a pain in the neck, but trust me, you will see a ton of movement!

Can't wait to see the next pics!
