Wow! That change in 24 hours is incredible!

Guess it goes to show that elastics may look weird to the non-braced and feel uncomfortable to those who have to wear them...but boy, do they work wonders! :D

Hi stargirl;

That truely is some really great progress in one day. Awesome!! I hope you are getting used to the new elastics configuration and don't let it bother you too much! It's really working good and you should be out of them soon. :D Best of luck!!
Yes, it's getting much better... after just two days now, the pain is gone and I can't even feel the elastic! I do still kind of feel like a robot though - only being able to open my mouth so far!

Hey everyone!

It's been a while since I've updated... I haven't got another adjustment 'till later this month, but just today I went to the dentist and I thought I'd post some fun comparison pics with my freshly cleaned teeth! But first, a story:
So at my dental appointment, the doctor comes over at the end to check my teeth, etc. (No cavities! :)). He examines my braces, and asks when they're coming off. I tell him, "October if I'm good.".
Then he says, "Well, they look well aligned to me. I would say they're ready to come off now, but that's just my opinion. They're all aligned, so I'd take them off."
Meanwhile, I'm thinking, is he crazy? I have a TON of bite issues to sort out still!

You see, my dentist himself does a little orthodontics on the side. But I really wouldn't trust him with my treatment. Not if he doesn't spend time on bite issues and removes braces when your teeth seem "in alignment". As far as I'm concerned, that's just the first step of orthodontic treatment!
All in all, I'm so glad that he isn't the one doing my braces. A friend of mine had him do her orthodontics and she had to get her braces back on less than a year later! :?

Anywho, on to pictures, because this would be quite boring without them! I put a picture from the very beginning of my braces journey beside ones I just took today, and I must say that it is encouraging!

I definitely see the most difference here! Gah! It was a disaster before!
Also, I seem to have improved my photography skills... :D

Thanks, bracedagain and KK!
I've got my fingers crossed for an October debanding, but I think I'll have to wait longer than that!

Hi again.

Today I went to the ortho - I had to move up next week's appointment because I couldn't make it, and I wanted to go in earlier rather than later.

I got some nice bright blue powerchains and a new elastic on the left side. Other than a few new bends in my archwires, not too much happened, my teeth dont even feel much pressure at all!

New elastic.

Same old configuration here.

Ahh! I just realized how bright that blue is! I'm glad to get rid of those dingy/yellow clear powerchains though.

Thanks guys! I'm already seeing some progress with the new bends in my wires - my front two teeth are nice and even now! :) They haven't been since my ortho filed one of them down. I hope there's more changes to come, especially with the new elastic.

Hey stargirl!

I just started following your story, as I just found this site a couple of weeks ago and I must say, you have had GREAT progress! I really liked reading your story and can't wait to see the final result, and I'msure you feel the same

Kudos on your great attitude!!!

Blonde_Metal04, thanks for the kind words!

As far as progress goes, I can't see much, but my bite has been really out of whack lately. I've also been hitting some upper and lower teeth together sometimes when I'm eating, and that's quite painful!

Here's a photo from today:

I think that the right and left sides are looking more even now, :).
Next adjustment is in two weeks.

I got a very nice surprise at my adjustment today - I'm in the home stretch and we're just waiting on my midline to get all lined up and then I'm done! :D Next appointment (Sept. 19th), we're discussing retainers! woo hoo!

Image

Here's what my teeth look like today. I got rid of the box configuration on the right side, and man, am I ever happy about that. The midline doesn't have far to go either, and the class II elastic will hopefully sort that out.

This definitely made my day!:)
