new here and to braces, got clearstep

#1 Post by peom »

Hi everyone, just over 2 weeks ago i got my clearstep (Uk equivalent of invisalign but without speedbumps I think), the first set felt uncomfortable but not really sore, getting them in and out was ok. 2 days ago I changed to my second set, put them in b4 I went to bed (as per other posts on this site) felt ok on waking but when I took them out I felt like I was pulling my two front teeth out with them, i have a 5 mm overjet so i assume they are now being pushed back, today is no better but I have had a gook look around the site and see other people has similar experiences. My teeth actually feel less sore with the aligner in!

I hope this treatment works, I found this site after my decision so I am a little scared I have made the wrong decision, but no going back now. I was offered metal braces upper and lower plus jaw surgery to correct my class 2 jaw but that filled me with fear so I went for a less invasive option which will not be perfect but a big improvement on what I have.

I know this sounds stupid but is there any chance I can pull my front teeth out with them?

That is a scary feeling isn't it??? But don't worry your teeth won't come out with your aligners. I've made my ortho swear on this a few diffrent times!

I've had mine for about 15 months now and I can honestly tell you that it does get better but it can go back and forth. On Wednesday this week I put in tray 28 of 55 ( yes I have a lot of trays!) and pulling it out for breakfast that next morning was pretty painful, I was having flashback to those first couple of months. BUT no pain no gain so I'm sucking it up and dealing with it. I really think it depends on what teeth are being moved, my front teeth are doing all the moving now and they are much more tender than the backs have been. (please excuse my lack of othro terms for teeth )

I also know what you mean about them hurting less when the trays are in, I feel the same way.

Good luck and stay positive, I think it's a real important part of your treatment. Don't let anyone's post scare you into thinking you made the wrong choose (especially those form the none Invisalign wearers!)

Thanks for replying I really appreciate it, I am so glad I found this site it is really wierd getting braces esp as an adult.

I feel better with the reassurance my teeth wont come out with the aligner, I checked on here for advice on removal and the one about loosening the back at each side first is great.

So far I only have 8 trays and when I get to tray 7 I have to book in with my ortho for new impressions. My ortho seems good, she is very nice but it seems an awfully long time from start of treatment to second vist 3 months or thereabouts if I do 2 weeks on each tray but she said that was ok with clearstep.

Once again thanks for replies and being welcoming to me. I will let you know how I go. :D

im no lawyer but which was the first clear system to move teeth u have invisalign orthoclear (red white and blue same thing?) and now clearstep which sounds like copy of orthoclear why are they not suing the crap out of each other especially this new system which has been made over here.

EAST SUSSEX, England, August 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Launching in the UK this month, ClearStep(TM), a brand new invisible orthodontic brace is a breakthrough in teeth straightening. The brace has been developed by Dr. Andrew McCance, in East Sussex, one of the UK's leading specialist orthodontists and a team of technicians from two of London's leading teaching hospitals to offer an alignment system that achieves the best possible aesthetic results without the use of wires.

Hi,

I'm just waiting for my Clearstep trays to be made. wondering wheher yours have stoopped hurting yet?

I've only just found these boards and am now a bit worried! More so about it hurting than anything else! Do you find a couple of Nurofen help or is it really unbearable? I have a very low pain threshold!

pulling teeth out..

#8 Post by gs »

peom....I thought the exact same thing the first week, I was actually questioning to myself - is it physically possible to pull my teeth out of my mouth?? it does sound ridiculous but there's no one to really ask and when you just start invisalign, what do you know? Not that I'm that experienced, I'm only on my 3rd tray! I too have been having doubts, I guess I find it hard to believe these plastic trays are going to correct my teeth! I will also not get a full correction because of my overbite but it will improve and my teeth should at least be straight...which I can't even imagine at this point.
I'm so glad this website is around!
