BRACES ON 25TH AUGUST :-*

#1 Post by ugh »

I thought my teeth were fine until I turned 13. Ten years ago I went to my first dentist app. In 5 years. The dentist was concerned about my top canines which were still baby teeth. The xray showed they were both horizontally impacted so of to the orthodontist I went. At the orthodontist I found out I had a 100% overbite, horizontally impacted canines and minor crowding. He said it would cost around $9000 to fix everything including oral surgery. Now we wernt poor but we didnt have that money to fix my teeth so the subject was forgotten until now. I went back to the orthodontist this year after having pain in my teeth. He said braces would be an ideal option. I went ahead with the idea and 5 appointments were made that day.
7th of july-oral surgeon
4th of august- 3d xrays + checkup and impressions
25th August-top braces on
1st september- I dont know what!!

Good luck at your appointment! I too had an overbite like yours, where my upper teeth completely covered my bottom teeth. Surgery was never mentioned as an option for me. I am constantly surprised at how many on this site have surgery to correct it. I am almost finished with my braces and I am still going to have somewhat of an overbite when my braces come off. It really doesn't bother me, I just worry now that it may cause problems with my other teeth or jaw. My Ortho doesn't seemed concerned about because I told him, appearance wise, that I didn't mind the overbite. Are you having the surgery done to fox the overbite for aesthetic reasons, or for the health of your teeth/jaw?

Good luck with your surgery next week! I read on here the types of surgery some needed and I am so thankful that I don't have to go through all that. Despite, we are all on the same journey and let's just keep our eyes on the prize.
Offenses: Skeletal and Dental Class 2 malocclusion
Sentence: 12-15 months

I dont need surgery for my overbite, I have impacted canines and I need to have minor surgery to expose them. Sorry if I didnt make that clear.
