I'm a 31 year old female I got braces 11 days ago. I have a diastema and I'm so excited to seeing it close. I'm so obsessed withy braces now and that led me to this awesome site. I knew I needed braces when I was very young but my family decided that it would have to be my responsibility to straighten my own teeth. I have had 2 wisdom teeth pulled and a molar taken out. I have had cavities filled. A baby tooth pulled at a young age because it wouldn't come out. That tooth was one of my baby teeth in the front top. Recently, I went to go and get a cleaning and set up my consultation for braces! My best friend had already gotten hers and was rooting for me to start my brace baby journey as well. I got my braces on and it wasn't that bad. But later I felt the pain. I have to have them for about 2 years and it sounds crazy but I think I see a difference already.
I will be posting pics as soon as I learn how. I guess I'm not as technology savvy as the rest of you guys. But I really want to show you guys how my teeth look. Especially because of my diastema. I love to see the progress of a diastema closing!
Thankyou for reading.
It was my two week anniversary got my braces yesterday. Yay! The only problem is my mouth is so cut up from the braces. I didn't need the wax in the beginning but while socializing and being around fily for the holiday I noticed my cheeks and lips weren't getting along with my braces! Lol. The wax my orthodontist gave me saved my life litterally. Being that it had been 2 weeks , I thought I was out in the clear with the cheeks and inside of my lips. I guess if your doing a lot of talking and eating your bound to need the wax.
Hi, congratulations on starting your journey with braces and welcome to the club! There is so much going on during the first couple of weeks with soreness, rubbing, dry mouth and generally getting used to having some metal in your mouth but it soon gets easier to the point you wil completely forget you have them. And great to see another metal bracket wearer! It's great that you have a friend who is in braces at the same time, some mutual support is always welcome. Good luck and I look forward to following your progress.
Thankyou for the kind words. I'm always shocked when people respond to my brace story. I like my traditional braces. They aren't that bad at all. I love my braces and all the pain that comes with it. I hope I can post progression pictures soon. I wonder what I will look like without this gap and crooked tooth I have had all my life??? Well, just a thought.
Hi, you should find that you see massive changes in the first few months, its only a really skinny flexible arch wire but it sure makes a huge difference! I found lot's changing really quickly, then many months of what appeared to be minor changes (although I'm sure much was going on getting the alignment just right) then further massive changes later down the road once I was in steel arch wires and elastics. I must admit to liking my traditional brackets too, I'm so pleased I went for these ones and genuinely do not regret the decision. There are some compelling reasons to consider clear brackets but when I weighed up the pro's and con's and the additional cost, found it an easy decision to make. Any aching or pain will soon go away I'm sure soon. Looking forward to an update soon.
How often should I post an update?? I don't want to put a lot of pics up that don't show that much progress. But it's like I want to post every week too.
