Belated congratulations on being approved through your insurance for jaw surgery! And that's awesome that your teeth are moving quickly! I'm glad to hear they aren't removing more teeth and decided to widen your upper jaw instead. I wonder why they didn't give you an expander and/or headgear as a child to encourage your upper jaw to grow? Seems like that would have saved you a lot of trouble, maybe. :?
•Braces placed August 14, 2014
•Deband November 11, 2015
•Permanent retainer top and bottom
•Essix retainers top and bottom 16 hr/day for a year and then nightly afterwards.

Thanks! :)

Idk why they didn't put me in an expander. I sure wish they would have though. If they had caught it early enough it might have prevented the three impacted teeth I had as well. Oh well now though lol.

Had another adjustment yesterday. These new wires hurt!!

Anyway, my ortho confirmed I will be getting molds done (yuck! I hate them lol) on April 1st. She'll then send the molds to the surgeon and hopefully I'll get a surgery date!

9 days until I get molds done to see if I'm almost ready for surgery! I'm getting really nervous now lol. It doesn't help that I absolutely *hate* getting molds taken. The impression material stuff always makes my teeth ache---most of my teeth are really sensitive to cold. I also gag like crazy during them.

I can't believe I'm getting molds done tomorrow! :jump: The past few months have flown by. I'll be posting an update after my appointment tomorrow. I think I'll share pictures of my progress as well. Not a whole lot of movement has happened with the top teeth since they weren't too far off to begin with, but there has been a lot of movement on the bottom.

Here's to hoping the surgeon likes what he sees and gets back to me this week with a surgery date! I really want to let my work know when it's happening. Plus my husband will be taking off for it as well (at least for the 1st week) and he has to request the time off asap so he can find a replacement for his shift.

Molds have been sent to the surgeon. Hopefully they will call to schedule a surgery date soon! My ortho didn't schedule me an appointment for my next adjustment. She wants to wait and see what the surgeon says first.

I got a power chain on the top teeth to close a small gap....ouch!

I'll be posting progress pictures tonight if anyone is interested in them :)

Here are some progress pictures. The before ones were taken by the ortho office so that's why they are better quality. I tried to get the best shots I could. I've had a lot of movement on the bottom teeth. The top teeth had braces on them when I was younger (mentioned in 1st post).

I still haven't heard back from the surgeon's office yet. I'm going to give it a full week before I call and ask if he's had a chance to look at the molds lol.

Two more. My orthodontist evened out my two front teeth a bit when I got my braces on :) Oh and she removed glue from the front incisor that my old ortho didn't remove...and then put new glue on it :p

Hm I wonder why I can't see them anymore. Oh well lol. Thanks! I'm pretty happy with how quickly the bottom teeth have moved.

Hopefully I'll hear back from the surgeon soon :)
