my uk nhs saga of lows highs the lows then highs..... so far

since i was a child i noticed kids could open packets with there teeth well not me.

also people use to get days off of school to visit a dentist. i remember seeing 1 when i was about 10 they painted some horrible stuff on my teeth then......

I didn't see another till i had to go at 20 after a rather vicious kick to my face in a "friendly" football game i choose like a moron to rip it out even though it could be saved 45 minutes this little tiny Asian women yanked and yanked away before she got this larger gentleman in 2 minutes he had it out. i don't know if it was student day or what. but as i paid the 90 quid at and walked out the door to me fathers car she chased me down muttering something about i had a problem with my jaw to correct it they would need to break it. So obviously i didn't go back. to fix the chipped other 3 all at the back where i had contact. .

7 years pass but during that time my teeth just ground them away to nothing id only ever had contact on my back teeth taking all my my wisdom teeth and the other molars in front of them apparently,

well i went to the dentist for the first time in 27 years i went to the most dodgy dentist in my area as the place i wanted to was 6 months for even an appointment or to get on the books. so i went to the fruit based dentist who just wanted to yank teeth with out fixing my other problems and ignoring my jaw problem altogether.

first sign bad dentist rather than fix the small fillings i needed i had 5 he proceeded to go straight for the teeth pulling tools at which point i had to physically stop him i may of been upset and not sure how a dentist works i wasn't going to let that happen as nothing was causing me pain even at worse through the years the worst i had was a sore teeth in the morning i said you can do the fillings but i want a referral to a hospital for the extractions which he dragged his feet on and had to do it 3 times to the point another 8 months past before i got an appointment with an oral surgeon at a local private clinic that does minor oral surgery procedures straight away he said he did not want to pull anything out in case he made the situation worse he could see the problem and even told me the dentist despite paying for a private cleaning he cleaned a bit between my bottom 2 teeth and gave me a polish but he had only done the front of my teeth not the backs where the real calculus was and that i needed to see a hygienist and he would do a proper referral to a hospital for me.

leaving there with hope i felt better already....


Until i went to the appointment at the proper hospital guy just opened my mouth looked in 30 seconds and told me them teeth need to come out then told me my bite would close up ( as i found out it did but you would with no teeth, but also so they wouldn't have to do it on the NHS as id then be less than than the measurement they do things for an open bite the scum. )

so leaving in tears feeling that was the end and no hope what so ever a few months later i got date for January at which point i had to be put on anti anxiety medication because i thought they where telling me my problems where all in my head and they bite problem would go away i didn't see it and people around me kept telling me they where correct as they where specialists. anyway i skip to January again because of some delay i was referred to a private hospital to have the teeth pulled i did go through with it paper pants and all i still had a massive open bite i could get a pointer finger in the gap with my back teeth touching.

so then i went home came off the drugs told everyone they where wrong and returned to the hospital in anger.

at which point now things changed i thought as he took molds and referred me to the orthodontist there so i thought finally id get the problem fixed.

WRONG

as it turns out i also have damaged my teeth i have some terrible acid erosion from acid re flux and the brackets wont stay stuck to my teeth the women said. also i was below the minimum size to have it done mainly because the cow was pushing on my chin to make it close up further than my natural bite. at this point i just said fudge it and left in disgust telling her that she was wrong and i would complain about there conduct.


anyway i managed to get into my good dentist went for a checkup as a new patient nothing needed to be done and i explained my history she asked if i wanted a referral to a London based teaching dental hospital I thought i didn't want to go through it all again but i though the worst that happens i get told no.

so i went there to a basement packed with children i thought oh dear.

i was kept waiting nearly a hour then went into see a gentleman, told him my story of woe he had a look in my mouth. asked me to wait outside. i thought great brush off time at which point he came out 5 minutes later to ask me to get an x-ray gave me the forms to go get them done i went off got them done he asked me to wait called me in after his next patient told me i should go see a hygienist and arranged another appointment.

he then poked me about 2 weeks later and said i could be put on the waiting list. may be up to 2 years i said that fine.

3 days later i get a letter asking me to attend a orthodontist appointment.

i go to it she is a lovely lady who didn't think any of my problems would be an issue took some impressions

then a few months later have a group session with others with similar problems meeting a surgeon and orthodontist and even a patient who had been through it all.


so then i go back to my dentist for a root canal, it seems to work

have a meeting with the maxi facial surgeon and the team.

then 3 months my abscess returned it comes back then referred back to the hospital have the root canal redone over 5 and a half hours basically on the back of my head as the surgeon was 4 foot 5 if anything but she did good work then had to wait 6 months before they could do anything.

last Friday i got my braces on and were underway horrible spacers next week


i am either lucky. part of an experiment, or just went to the right place at the right time i don't know just if you have a legitimate problem don't give up is all i can say.
