Best of luck with the extractions tomorrow! My mouth post-extraction was great, honestly not bad at all. I'd stick with a liquid diet for the first day or two and then soft foods for the rest of the week but after that you should be back to normal...just be cautious and aware of the gaps. Also, stay away from straws for the first few days because suction in the mouth can lead to dry socket.

Happy healing :flowerbloom:

Thanks Kimmie and Gilly!!

Well I survived! The procedure and extractions went well and the braces had done their trick of loosening them up so they came out quick...only my body decided to make my tummy sick :( The nausea got worse and worse until I started throwing up 12 hours in. Today I'm still recovering from that and trying to be gentle with everything! So not looking forward to doing it all again next week!

Thanks for the advice Gilly! After a week do you think the extractions from yesterday should be good enough to take over whilst I take care of the new extractions? Obviously I'll still be eating liquids and soft stuff but I'm quite nervous about having to aim the food in that direction after only a week...

I'm also meant to be getting my wires put back on immediately after next week's extractions which has me scared cos I was so numb and bleeding after this lot I don't think they'll be wanting to mess with that!!!???????

Anyway I am off to sleep again! Hopefully I'll be feeling my bright and bubbly self again in the morning :) Thanks again for all your thoughts!

I'm so sorry to hear you felt so sick afterward :( but it's awesome the teeth came out so easily. Feel better :rose:

Your extraction sites will still be pretty fresh next week so you will still need to be quite cautious but they will have definitely started the healing process by then. I would highly recommend a protein shake/smoothie diet for a few days and when you're feeling more daring maybe adding in some steamed veggies/soft fish/mash and that sort of stuff. Just make sure you get your protein and veggies in because your body really needs the nutrients to heal you up asap!

Wishing you a smooth healing and sending you good vibes

Thanks for all of your help Gilly, you've settled my mind down a lot!!!!

Today I'm feeling a bit better nausea-wise but because of the limited food I started getting weak and dizzy!! I also had a little oozing of blood from one of my extraction sites but that seems to have calmed down. Anyway I'm starting to pick up after some dinner. Thankfully I had some fish in the freezer that I could cook really quickly!! :) Another day closer to being all healed up :) :)

Take care all!!

Oh Kimmie my friend that fish did amazing things!! And another thing I've found to be fantastic is coconut cream! It's delicious, easy to eat and has so many good things in it to help your body recover!

Hope you're getting used all your new metal :)

I'm so glad you are beginning to feel better. I haven't had to have any extractions with my braces, but I had all of my wisdom teeth extracted a few years ago. It sucked, I lived on fudge pops for a week. :) i'm sure not as healthy as the fish you were eating LOL It's good that I had it done though because they were causing so many problems with my other teeth because they were coming in at an angle toward my other teeth. I'm sure my teeth would be way more crowded if I had left them. Its all good now you wouldn't even know those big ol hole were ever there. :)

:-* Thanks Betsy! I sure am feeling a lot better!!

I had my wisdom teeth out a few years ago and they were definitely worse in the sense of pain, swelling , bruising etc. etc!! I don't blame you for living on fudge pops - I don't think I ate much better after getting mine out too!

My main problems with these extractions were more to do with bleeding, drooling, nausea, vomiting, weakness from not eating, I found it harder to keep my tongue out of the way, my lip was bumping the clot if I smiled etc. (and I guess because they were more visible than my wisdoms and I didn't have stitches they freaked me out a lot more!! lol ) Anyway, one side is now done!! And I'm off again tomorrow to get the other side pulled....!!

Chat to you all again once I start recovering in a few days! Keep well guys!! And eat an extra slice of something yummy for me this week and tell me what it is to cheer me up!! ;)

Round 2 of extractions went much better!! More pain but less sick!!! Hooooooray!!!! All over red rover!!!! Now to start healing :D

So at my 2nd adjustment (immediately after my extractions and I had to wait half an hour embarrassingly drooling/numb) I was given 20 square top and 17 square bottom wires...and... wait for it...I have to start ELASTICS!! And they start at lunchtime TODAY!! So I will have 'tightened braces sore', 'extraction sore' and I start 'elastic sore' in a few hours!! Anyway, I'm really excited to start closing these gaps up and seeing what my new smile will look like!!!

When my mouth is a bit cleaner I'll take some photos but I chose purple ligs this time and I've
fallen in love with them! :)

Not sure if anyone is in the hurricane zone but keep safe all!!!! Xx

CC!!!

Well to start off my friend I ate some fall of the bone ribs for you today!! They melted in your mouth!! I am glad round 2 went better for you. Oh my you started elastics right after the extractions all I can say is I hope all that pain goes away for you soon. :flowerbloom: Did you know you would be starting elastics this soon? Maybe I will start with them next week at my appointment. It seems like everyone is getting them now. I am thinking on lig colors for next week. I still need to post the ones from last time. I'll put that on my agenda for tomorrow. Well I hope you feel better soon!

Holy Hell! You had a ridiculously intense day lol! Extractions, New wire AND ELASTICS?! How are you feeling now. I hope you've taken a day or two off work to recuperate. I guess just keep on top of the pain meds and maintain a liquid/soft food diet for a while.

I really hope you're doing well and keeping the end result in mind. Wishing you speedy heeling
