here is pics after my first adjustment. ortho made more space between my bottom front teeth so they will be able to get closer together. i choose green bands this time, want to bring out the green in my blue green eyes, that was the idea anyway. the back of my mouth hurts like a #$%^YU the wires feel like they are digging into my checks and i can taste the blood from this,,,,yuck. if it doesn't get better in a few days i may go back into have them clip one of the wires.

i had forgotten how painful and nasty things could feel......just when i could just about eat whatever i wanted to......

Hi - I am not in braces yet. Will probably get them in June. Does the wax help the metal hitting your cheeks?

i'm reposting a post i just posted in annother part of the forum to answer your question about wax and if it helps....

i have the worst god aweful canker sore in my cheek, i have tried everything, silicon gel....i can't get silicon wax to stick it's way back, behind the last molar on top. i've been to ortho twice to have him file that wire down and to put this special healing powder. it looked like nothing was going to work. he said he might have to take the bracket and wire off that last tooth, which i didn't want because that was alot of why i got braces on, to line up my back molars properly.

they gave me these thin sheets of dental wax, the kind they have you bit into when they make impressions. it's thin and hard, you have to soften it up a bit w/ hot water to get it to mold to the shape of where you want to put it....it's a little tricky to get it in place, but once it's in, it provides a hard smooth shield and that horrible horrible nasty canker store is starting to heal. i've only heen eating liquid shakes, yogurt and mashed potatoes, i have avoided any chewing whatsoever, and keeping that pink wax on at all times. i haven't been so good about brushing in that area, but i've GOT to heal that sore, then i can worry about it.

this is what the stuff looks like

http://www.dental-waxes.com/modelingwax.htm

i don't know where they get it from, but it looks like the stuff above. apparently there are all sorts of thicknesses and types of pink dental wax, but if you are suffering horribly and nothing helps, this stuff will. it's a pain to have to cut it and mold it to the area, but a lot less of a pain than having a nasty canker sore that will not heal

i am practically weeping w/ gratitude. i can't tell you how much i have suffered these last two weeks. and now, it looks like the sore it starting to heal. it is such a deep one, it will probably take another 2 weeks to heal....but at least i'm on the way

THANKS G-D!!!

decided to post a pics of myself w/ elastics (rubberbands) realized i don't have any fun colors going.....i need to get back to doing that. by the time i brush, floss, put on elastics....that takes up a lot of time!

i think i see quite a bit of improvement though.....i've been bad and once i eat i don't put my elastics back on for a few hours. i need to be better about that.

Grillz! So glad to see a post from a familiar "smile" out there! Lol I dont have my bands yet so you jumped ahead of me now...even though I think I actually got my braces before you did...not sure. I just posted an updated pic of me too...Your teeth look amazing right now!! Do you know what the rubber bands are supposed to be for? They said I'd be getting mine on my next vist in February...just wondered. Thanks and keep up the great work! It does seem to get easier...the routine...as time goes along, doesnt it?

i haven't been on the site in a long time. i was diagnosed w/ metastatic thyroid cancer and have had to deal w/ some other more pressing issues. however i am happy to report that i got my braces off today!! i'm getting ready to have surgery and radiation and my ortho felt it would be best for my braces to be off before i went through all of that. so i got them off about 10 days early. but i am very happy with the results. now if only the rest of my medical stuff will go as well. they had to do quite a bit of drilling to get all the glue off, but when it was all said and done, they look great! my good hygiene and having a water pik and e toothbrush at both work and home paid off.
