Hello!!!

My name is Marta, I'm 21year old student from Italy... I recently found your website and I wanted to share with you my experience with braces!
Here's my story:

-Deep bite
-Upper and lower crowding from canine to canine
-Class I molar relationship

07/07/2008: Quadhelix expander put on

31/07/08: all 4 wisdom teeth extracted under general anesthesia

16/09/08: upper braces ( ice clear braces, metal wire )

november 08: upper utility arch on my central incisors

17/02/09: lateral incisors finally wired

16/03/09: lower braces (metal) + lower utility arch on 3 incisors, + upper utility arch removed(yayyy!!!!!)

I don't know if these are the exact terms to describe it, I'm sorry but my English is not that good yet!
I'll post pics very soon!!

I hope this isn't too gross for you, I know I have pretty crooked teeth!
My lowers have been aching since Monday...
I'm wondering when all the spaces on the upper arch will be closed... I went from no space at all and loads of crowding to "extra spaces"... :?
I'm also concerned for my lower lateral incisor which is standing way behind the others... anyone with this kind of problem?!?!
Thank you so much for reading this!

Hey crèmefraîche, welcome to AW! Your english is just fine. I admire anybody who can speak a second language, since I've never learned anything beyond english.

I think this group is pretty hard to gross out with pictures. You should check out some of the surgery pics! I'm glad you posted yours because I like to see people's starting points. It makes it more fun to watch their journeys. :)

Hi, and welcome to the forum :) Your english is actually very good, especially since it's not your first language. Like catfish mentioned, I also have a lot of respect for people who even try to learn a second language. It's very difficult sometimes.

You seem to be well into your treatment :D Things look like they're straightening out! I hope all is well.

Thanks for your replies! You're so kind!
I actually speak a bit of French too (that explains my nickname^^) but I'm really far from having fluency, vocabulary and grammar knowledge of a native speaker! You'll have to be patient, the only language I speak well is Italian :D :D
I posted some pictures to resume my treatment experiences so far...
I think it can be useful both for people who doesn' t know what to expect from braces and for me because seeing all the little changes on my teeth keeps me really motivated!
I'll keep you updated with pics from my next adjustment!

Hi, crèmefraîche! Welcome!
Thanks for sharing your photos with us! You're certainly making great progress...you must be so thrilled! :D

I have the problem of a pushed-back lateral incisor as well (an upper). Right now my ortho is using a coil spring to make space for him, so I'm sure he'll be back there a while longer. :p But I very much look forward to seeing how yours progresses!

Best of luck to you!

brika: I just saw your pics! It's an amazing progress and it's happening so fast!I'm so happy for you!

kayleighkelley: thanks! I can't wait to read your story!

againbrace: thank you!!!^^ French is a VERY difficult language.. I've been studying it for like.... 12 years(!!!!) but it's still a challenge! It must be even harder for an English speaker (I guess! You're not familiar with latin languages!)

Question(^^): I noticed that the wire tie on my lower incisor (the left one) has come loose...it's "moving" but the utility arch is still on the bracket..
is this normal?! I'll probably ask the dentist, anyway... :?
