Cleaning grade of A+!! Yay for me :jump: very little exploratory scraping, then some polishing and I was done. I did ask for a tiny bit off the front profile and top edge of the implant crown, as I was hitting occasionally on the upper incisors. Back in 6 months..and can I say, changing dentists was one of the better decisions I've made...thanks to my ortho for suggesting this one :-** . Now, a retainer check in Oct and mouth detailing will be completed for the year.

Strange tenderness along the left top bicuspid where the retainer clips into place. If it doesn't subside, will need to push up the ortho appt, for a look see.

Hey opera gal!! I was just curious how long it took to advance your upper 4 incisors? I am going through this right now but instead of loops in my wire I have coil springs pushing them forward. My ortho mentioned bonding them to fill in the gaps as well. I have to say its nice not to have my lowers bashing on my uppers anymore

Thanks, lilone

Betsybug: I seem to remember getting the advancing loops in as soon as I had a wire strong enough for it. I know the first day with them, the ligs were barely holding on the brackets, and my upper lip rested on the archwire until the teeth moved up to it. I had the loops and a wire-tie across the top incisors until I was debraced, as that setup is still there now I have the brackets on a pair of chattering teeth. The ortho would tweak the loops nearly every appt, until the forward arch was where she wanted it, then left them in place to hold the advancement until I got the spring retainer. Once my dentist bonded the gaps left behind due to small lateral incisors/advancement, I got a regular retainer. Not sure if that helps you, but I agree...not having clashing teeth anymore was worth the discomfort. Good luck! :-1

Retainer adjustment this morning...top bow tweaked and bottom left alone...all of 5 mins in the chair...took longer to drive there and wait..lol. Back in three months AGAIN!! I thought I'd be either backed off to six months or maybe a year, if not released. Doc did say to start the weaning process, so two nights off-one night on, retainer wise. That should be strange, leaving the sad little plastic and wire devices in their case overnight, but it must be done..lol

Interesting that your ortho is trying to get you to wean off the retainer. Mine expects me to wear it every night as long as I have teeth.

Not weaned off completely...but cutting back from nightly...reading several braces completion stories, it seems a regular thing for many patients.

I'm finding it quite difficult to jam my retainers in after a day/night without them...not sure if my teeth are really trying to return to their pre-brace positions or if it might be that any eensy weensy movement anywhere throws everything off kilter? It is annoying, to be sure :-= . Will likely put a call into the ortho if this continues...granted..with the bonding on the top lateral incisors, the top arch advancement will hold..so that gives me some peace of mind.

One day it is 70... Next day it is 50... One day leaves are all on the trees and pretty...next day they are all on the grass..dry and noisy. Wild weather continues!

Here comes the storm of the century...everything is battened down and emergency supplies are ready to go. Seems like we did this not so long ago with Irene...and Sandy looks to be much worse. Good thing I don't have any appts to get to/cancel for the week..so that is decent timing I suppose. Stay safe everyone out there who will be in this monster!

In West Virginia we've got blizzard warnings in some counties from Monday through Wednesday. THEY NEVER do blizzard warnings this early and for three days.....

This one could be interesting.
