first off I would like to say I love this site!!! it is so encouraging to read other peoples stories and feels good to know im not going through this alone hehe.. Im 26 and finaly decided to get braces.. when i got my fist apt for consultation I was told I needed the braces only on top wich was great until he mentionned the RPE... wow
I have had the palate expander for a month now and I must say now its not so bad but the first week I just wanted to take it out not to much that it hurts but the food you eat gets stuck and its hard to take out!!! eventually you do get the hang of it I still have to keep it in ane extra 2 months before he takes it out.. and now this week i got my braces on monday!! I am feeling a bit miserable and hungry especially @ work cause im so hungry and I keep dreaming of eating a big burger!! lol what I will miss the most tho r raw veggies and dip!! wow I will miss that so much! I wanted to give people advice if ur having problems eating make shepperds pie and put it in the food processor it fills you up i had it tonight for dinner first thing i eat solid since monday felt great.. anyway i was wondering if the pain goes away soon and if i will be able to eat normal tired of apple sace and yogurt!! lol
I had an RPE and braces too (plus SARPE surgery). It really is worth it! Hope the rest of your journey goes well.
Braced 20 Nov 06. Sentenced to 18-30 months. Released 23 Feb 09 (27 months and 3 days).
Uppers: 3M Clarity Ceramic. Lowers: Damon 3MX.
SARPE 21 April 06 and 7.5 months in expander (on for 2 weeks before surgery), turning to a width of 14.5mm.
Good Luck with everything. I am getting braced tomorrow!!! I have the brackets in right now and it is going well. I am just so ready to get this done and over with.
