cssteam...braces story

#1 Post by cssteam904 »

Well today I took the big plunge. I got spacers in today and braces go in next Thursday!!!!!!!!!!

My story is, that my parents would not have braces put on me as there was plenty of room in my mouth, and the spaces would just make taking care of my teeth sooooo much easier.

I have found that this website to be very informative and it has helped ease my nerves on what will be done and what to expect.

So, back to the spacers...I have 8 of them in. I have felt some pressure but that is about it..(thankfully no pain). I think they just feel weird...they stick up above my teeth just a little and i cant bite down all the way without my mouth bouncing back open.

Thanks to all and good luck to everyone in their endeavors!!!

Braces are on!!!!!!!

#4 Post by cssteam904 »

Well, Thursday was the big day....the molar bands went on, on top and bottom, and brackets on top.

Two things that were really bad, was the fitting of the molar bands and the glue to stick the brackets on.....other than that a really positive session.

I have metal braces on the top and they used wire ties to hold the wire in. Apparently, I have a couple teeth that are turned about 90 degrees and they want to use the wire ties to help pull them in the correct direction. They want to make sure I and my teeth get the most of of what we are doing, so I will go back in 8 weeks for the first adjustment.

I will have bottom brackets put on in a few months, we have to work on my bite and getting those teeth turned around first.

I was worried about the pain factor, so I took Friday off work. I really havent had any pain...just a lot of pressure. I am already noticing a difference in the front 4 teeth.

I will be posting pictures in a couple days!!!!!!!

cssteam904,
Sounds like a great start. Best wishes for an easy ride. There are a lot of very wise and kind people here reading our stories and sharing theirs. Someone is always here when you need advice, or you just want to read and see that what you are experiencing is "normal" for this new trip. Best of luck.

1 week from top braces

#7 Post by cssteam904 »

Well, today is one week since I was braced on top. My next appointment is not until 4/5. Over the last few days, there has been no pressure and I was getting really disappointed, cause I thought there is nothing going on. :-+ Until just a few minutes ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just went to the restroom, and looked in the mirror and my sideways teeth, they are turning pretty nicely!!!!!! wow...i was thinking 8 weeks and nothing is being done, because I cant feel it... but now I am HAPPY again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And realize that just because I am not feeling pain or pressure does not mean nothing is happening

This site is freaking awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love reading everyones stories...

OOOOOOOOOUCH

#8 Post by cssteam904 »

Well, yesterday I was eating a banana and I cut my tongue on the hooks on the inside of the molar bands on the bottom teeth. And today, on the other side of my tongue, there is a big sore.....so i have wax covering the insides of the molar bands on both sides......I know I am being a big baby about it but OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOuch!!!!! :soremouth:

Any suggestions on why all of a sudden I am getting clipped by the hooks on the molar bands?

1 month Braceaversary and loose bracket

#11 Post by cssteam904 »

Well yesterday was my 1 month braceaversary  :jump: ....yea me i made it thru the first month....with out any major problems!!!!!!!! so my husband decided he would treat me out to dinner. Dinner was wonderful and we went home.

It was now time for my nightly cleaning. :braces_angry: I brushed my teeth...flossed my teeth....still noticed that there was steak in my brackets....so i got out my dental brush (that looks like a christmas tree)...and it got stuck between two of my brackets....

:yikes: PANIC starts to set in....:Questions: how am i going to get this out???? so i take a couple deep breaths...and grab ahold of the handle a pull....it finally came out (along with the steak)....

This morning I start my day with brushing my teeth....and i notice a bracket is loose :-(( ...still tied to the archwire...but loose....and the worry sets in...my ortho is not going to believe me that i did this by cleaning my teeth....

Called the ortho, as my next appointment is not until 4/5/07, and they said unless it comes off the archwire or it really bothers me that i dont have to come in until my next appointment.

well that is enough excitement for a friday morning!!!!!! :frogbraces:

Congratualations on your one-month braceaversary :-)o

I totally cringed when I read about your steak/brush incident. :? About an hour ago, I was flossing with some OralB Super Floss and the foamy part of the floss got stuck in one of my springs. Eventually (and after a number of deep breaths) I had to break the floss, but was left with a small piece wrapped around the spring. It took a loooonnnggg time to get it out. I can't believe how such a little thing could have gotten me so worked up.

I hope that everything stays calm until your next appointment.

1st Dental Appointment

#13 Post by cssteam904 »

Hey gang, there has been nothing major to report on this end of the world except it is finally starting to get warm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had my first dental appointment yesterday since getting braced. I got a super A++++++++++++ from my hygienist and my dentist. They said they never saw such good care from someone who just got braces. That made my head swell so freaking much..........so I guess my nightly routine is working! I just picked up a water pic and that thing is freaking cool....and my dentist said she can see some major movement in my teeth from the last time I saw her! Again head swelled more!!!! I had such a big head from all the praise it was hard to get thru the doors....

I can not wait until 4/5 as that will be my first adjustment

1st Adjustment

#14 Post by cssteam904 »

Today at 12:30 CST I go in for my first adjustment. I am just as nervous/excited as I was the day I got my braces on. It has been a long 8 weeks since i got my braces put on....I really hope that I dont have to wait as long for my next adjustment. I have my list of questions for my ortho and I have decided that if I get to pick what colors i want i will go with a light purple...or may be a dark purple depending on what they have. They will have to replace the bracket that I popped off.

I will advise more after my appointment.....

1st Adjustment Continued

#15 Post by cssteam904 »

WOW....what an adjustment....I know from reading other posts that what all I had done is alot....but I am glad because I was thinking there would not be much done.

They were not too happy with the fact that a couple of my teeth has not rotated very much. But....they said they had a solution for that.

1. new wire.
2. power chains from the tooth infront of the molars to the same tooth on the other side, (ok....i couldnt find the spot for the names of the teeth)
3. I GOT METALLIC PURPLE POWER CHAINS and they look cool!!!!!

oh boy can i feel them working...its weird...i feel pressure up in my nose....anybody else ever have that feeling????????!!!!!!!!!
