Some recent life changes that have involved taking a new job (I was made a fantastic offer and just couldn't turn it down! ) actually means that I will be in braces a lot sooner than I had anticipated, and today, I have booked all of my appointments for early next year to coincide with my change in insurance. Luckily, I will still be going to the same orthodontist - but I'm a little sad to no longer be working with him.
January 11th - Records
January 20th - Case Presentation/Seps
February 3rd - Banding!
I'm very happy I'll have my braces on for my trip home to the UK, it'll be fun to show everyone at home that I'm fixing my teeth! Although, apart from my parents and one cousin, no one will have seen me in over two years!

Well, I think my insurance is now more or less sorted, hopefully there won't be any issues there when I go for my records appointment. I've also just ordered my dentakit, as I think I'll be needing that for work and just being out and about.
All in all, I'm getting really excited to be getting my braces started, and focussing on the thought that by the time I'm 30, this will all be over and done with! YAY!!
Insurance coverage has officially started, I became effective on 01/01/07 much to my relief! I have also recieved my Dentakit, in a record breaking three days over the Christmas Holidays aswell, so major kudos to Lynn and the Dentakit people.
Good luck! I am glad your insurance change worked out. I am still waiting for proof of coverage. With a holiday on 1-15 it is not looking good for 1-17.
I did finally manage to get my records done, no thanks to the crazy weather that we've been having lately. It wasn't anything too horrific, although I did very nearly manage to throw up over poor Vicki, who was the assistant doing my impressions! She is wonderful though, my ortho is blessed to have two wonderful assistants!
Tomorrow is the dreaded day, I have to go in for a final meeting with the ortho and then get upper and lower spacers, not fun. I remember how painful they were the last time for my RPE, so I don't think I'm in for a fun weekend, but hopefully by Monday I'll be feeling better.
On a brighter note, two weeks from tomorrow my spacers come out and I'll be getting my braces started!
Funnily enough Karen I was remembering your advice on my last trip to the store, and definitely have enough salt for those warm salt water rinses - they really do make all the difference! I'm starting them now, as that way I should be in good shape and in a good routine for when I do get my braces in two weeks.
I'm off to my nail appointment, then to the ortho - I will show off my bright blue spacers later this afternoon! Thanks for all the kind words everyone, you guys here are such a support through all of this wonderful teeth straightening stuff!
Meryaten - I get my nails done at Artistic Nails (Theresa's Nail's) in Redmond, they are really great - and have a great young gal in there who is great with airbrushing. I'm going again on Saturday in two weeks (B-Day!!), email me and let me know if you wanna come with and get yours done too!
I had my case presentation and got my spacers in today - happy happy joy joy! Apparently there will be lots of elastics in my future, he said we'll get into that in a month or two - probably once I get back from my trip to the UK.
Getting the spacers wasn't too bad, just a little pressure. I managed to eat a nice lunch, but this evening, even with the painkillers my lower molars are really hurting with pressure.
One week to go, next Saturday I get my braces! I'm getting kinda excited now, I wanna get started and I'm anxious to see how my teeth are gonna look once all this is done. Its kind of hard imagine at this point, but I'm definitely wanting for everything to be nice and level at the front, and a much wider smile.
Spacers aren't too bad anymore, still a little uncomfortable for eating - but certainly not the pain that I had for the first few days, the worst is definitely over!
Oh yes, we have a crossbite going on - its been helped somewhat by an expander that I had for around six months, which brought my upper biscuspid on the bad side closer to where it should be. The main issues are my molars now, which can't be brought out of crossbite without braces - I already know I am in for some funky elastic combinations to help with that. I'm expecting elastics probably from my second adjustment onwards - I think he'll give me a month to get used to all the junk in my mouth first!
I had one molar crossbite as a kid. It was fixed with elastics. I did not have braces. My upper arch was made wider using an activator. Well, then I quit the treatment, when they informed that i need braces for my deepbite
Tomorrow is the big day, I'm very lucky that my ortho works every other Saturday to allow for peeps that find Saturday appointments more convenient. I have a 75 minute appointment, and will be getting both my uppers and lowers at the same time.
