Hi Joanna

I know how you feel worrying about the extraction gaps. I have two gaps and it does occur to me what it would be like if they never closed although I know that's not logical. We just have to be patient with this. It looks and sounds like you're doing well.

Thank you all for the positive feedback!

Jillianleab I've got no clue, but it would be great if that happened! I will ask on my next consultation (in a week). The word relapse makes me sick!!!

joney Yeah, exactly!!! It's not logical and I guess that in the back of our minds we all know they it will close but we want to see dramatic changes and we forget that it does take at least 4/5 months minim.!

Take care and merry christmax to u all!

Will post very soon!

Hey guys!
I hope you all doing OK. I’ve been reading some of your posts :)
So on Tuesday I had my adjustment, no big news, I have the same wire but she changed my springs to bigger ones and she said “Let’s not push them to hard now, so that both jaws can move at the same timeâ€

Hey!
So I went in yesterday, 20 minutes earlier and at 4pm there I was having my anestesia. That hurt a little bit but not as much as it did on my lower jaw. My tissue is stronger, like my lower jaw is always so fragile.... probably because it has the size of a 3 year old child's jaw  ! Anyways, the doctor remembered me from my lower extractions and he was so gentle, always letting me know the spots were it was supposed to hurt more and all (the shot) and smilling all the time. This may come across as a bit weird, but I actually felt the tooth 1st coming loose of the jaw bone and then we pushed it and there is was! A huge premolar stuck in my mouth for over 10 years during absolutely nothing but damage! It felt GOOD! The blood and everything. I remember thinking "Yeah, u r so gone my love.... Bye bye" (I know, I'm a freak!) and the nurse asked "do u want to keep it" I replied "hell no"! We all laughted and I came home and sat down all afternoon. By night time I was singing for a couple of hours in my room, so u can immagine it wasn't hurting.
I just had some mild pain during the night and for the whole of today but I think painkillers are somehow bad for our health since they numb the connection between our brain and our nerves.
So yep, I'm doing just fine! The hole is enormous, I think a little bigger than my lowers were I've measured it with my finger :D ).

So next week will be my last extraction ever and then I will post pictures of it!!!

I can't beleive it's less than 2 weeks before my upper teeth start moving for real

antsika Thank you! Yeah they are kind of straight actually, I think we're just dealing with the flaring now, that seems to be the main concern.

KK Thanks! Yeah I kind of felt like a pro. yesterday! And it was the same Dentist!!!

Meryaten Thank u!

bracedagain Thanks! Yeah she is really nice. Always smiling and everything!!! It's great because they don't let you choose your ortho, you kind off have to go with what you are given there. But from what I've seen they're all excellent, and nearly free!

Linda Thanks!![/u]

I'm in love with my teeth and the whole ortho. crew :) I'm flossing again, nearly everyday :)

:D

Hope you still are feeling good! You sound so postive to everything - that is attitude worth keeping up!

I have had to extractions on my upper jaw, nr 5 from the front on both sides, and will have one extrataction on my lower, nr 4 on the left from the front. I had alot of pain with the upper ex., hope I instead experience only joy and singing like you :D

Good luck with the last extraction!

Hey guys! I hope everything is going OK with everyone. It’s been crazy – no time left for anything at all... the only positive thing in this is that time is really flying by  .
 So yesterday I got like last tooth ever extracted  !!! I’m so excited! Finally the extraction saga is over! It all went pretty smooth again, no major pain or discomfort.
My doctor was brilliant once again. He managed to remove both teeth without touching my arch so I have my braces already working on the teeth.
And I keep my theory: My upper jaw is just better material :frogbraces: ! I remember my first pre molar extraction – that was pain and discomfort!
So now I have two big upper gaps, you can see that the lower ones are smaller already, which means they’ve been closing. I have a second premolar that shifted away from the first molar (lower jaw) and food gets stuck in between and it’s annoying, I also have a yellow thing on top of that pre molar and I asked my doctor if that was a cavity – it isn’t!  I don’t I have any cavities at the moment. I remember my hygienist telling me I did. I believe she said that in order to make the floss and care more about my oral hygiene. I’ve been to the dentist a few times after that and they’ve all said I’m doing just fine!
I just need to tell my doctor that the gap appeared.
Have I seriously changed my attitude that much? I can’t really tell. I guess I feel more positive now because I know for sure that they will shift back, I was very scared that they would stick out forever – like when I completed my first orthodontic treatment with that sh**** doctor. She traumatized me. And to be honest I don’t even care how much time the gaps will take to close, I care a little bit obviously but I’m not very worried.
My adjustment is this next Tuesday (January 16th) and so I’m thinking about posting pictures after they’ve done their monthly ritual.
After 4 premolars extracted I don’t notice that my face is longer than it previously was, but maybe we’re supposed to notice it after the gaps are closed? I actually think my cheekbones look slightly more defined (which is good in a female face?!).
But time will tell. When I look at old pictures I feel very happy and comfortable with my decision.
I may sound more “relievedâ€

This one was taken in December... It's my profile. In a few months the flaring will be coming down which is excelent. I think they are moving just fine!

Image

I've noticed that no one can tell my teeth are flaring, I think it's because of my profile. I think, or I hope both my nose and chin will look more proeminent once I'm done. I can only complain about the humps on my lips. Specially everytime I have a painful adjustment! I've been brushing my teeth so well these days, they're getting quite white, I mean I couldn't do more than what I do. I floss almost day, use my waterpick and brush them with both an electronic toothbrush and a manual toothbrush.

Let me know what you think of my tiny tiny progress!

Each day closer to the end :)

Thank you reading,

Joanna

Finally some time to write a decent report!

Hi guys, had my adjustment this morning and it went fine! My ortho. asked me how I was doing and I replied that I was fine and the movement was excellent for 3 weeks. I sat down, she took a look and said that everything was just brilliant. So no metal coils for Feb.’s adjustment, just mini power chains. The same on both arches:

Powerchain connecting 1st molar to second premolar to canine. (in all quadrants)
Powerchain connecting all 4 incisors together (both arches).

My lower gaps are like 3 ml now, so maybe 3 or 4 more months to go until they close down. Then we still have to join the incisors to them. My upper canines have moved 1ml over the last 3 weeks! Excellent! No wonder my last adjustment was so painful.
I’m feeling fine for now, just some pain – that should go away in a week or two tops.
Maybe my lower will be ready by fall, or next winter. My uppers will take a bit longer, she didn’t actually say this, but she said that they’re moving along the expected time, which means 1ml/month. So it should be that, we still have a few minor things to consider once gaps close down completely. Next adjustment (March 9) I’ll ask when she can shave my teeth. I was looking at them the other day and I thought “Man, they are huge!â€

Hi Joanna

You are doing really well. I can see similarities as I have bulldog lowers too but they are slowly easing back. I think you have a lovely profile already, I have a fat neck which doesn't help with my chin definition, your neck loks nice and slim.

Hey guys! Today I had my higienist consultation! I thought about cancelling it cause I have a massive flu but it had been like 3 months since my previous cleaning. Nothing much happened, she did the usual, said my higiene is excelent! She told me to insist on my gappy canines, cause food gets stuck there quite a lot. I have no cavities whatsoever which is great :) I still don't know why the other higienist told me I had cavities... lol
And she told me that she would like to see me in 4 months time.
My next adjustment is on the 9th. I think it's all moving just fine.

Bliss,

Joanna

Wow Joanna!

Your extraction saga made me cringe! You sounded so brave throughout the ordeal and that is awesome! I don't know that I could have been that strong as I had 10 teeth extracted when I was younger (6 extras + 4 molars) and it was all the worst days of my life. Luckily, with my braces I needed no extractions and went straight to braces, but reading your story gave me some strength. Thanks!

Keep us posted. Your progress looks awesome. That smile is whipping into perfect shape! :D

Hi guys!
First of all let me apologize for the lack of recent updates! Truth is nothing much is happening besides the gaps being slowly closed! I will post new pictures very soon.
My lowers have gone backwards sooo much! It’s incredible, the flare is nearly gone. The gaps are 1ml and 2ml (left side) from closing! My uppers are a bit more slow, they’re at 4 ml now. This month (June) was the first month I didn’t have a power-chain fitted in a really long time. So they are not moving backwards this month, or at least not as much!!!
There is something concerning me tough, which is my left upper central incisor, which was meeting the right one before I had braces. However (and strangely) it flared more that it’s “brotherâ€
