OK I am going to totally hijack your story here for a minute but you and Tobilei need to help me out. So I'm sitting in a hotel room by myself and I get the idea to take some "before" pictures since I'm by myself and I won't have my husband laughing at me! Well I thought it would be a good idea to use the mirror and zoom in blah blah... well that didn't work very good. Maybe my camera is just thinking too hard. Finally I got some pictures... just smiling ones and ehhh my teeth look so yellow! Maybe it's because this hotel's bathroom walls are brown? How do you get good clear nice white toothed pictures of yourself?

Anyhow, back to you! Super good luck with your extractions!

I am hijacking your hijacked thread.

I tried pics with my phone and they came out yellow, I ended up using a regular digital camera and they came out quite decent. I used the mirror to take the pic, but didnt aim it at the mirror. I pointed at my teeth, and used the mirror to see the screen on the back. If that makes sense.

The excess saliva will calm down :) Give it more time. And yep, anxiety is normal I think. I got anxiety when I got mine put on and then a bit of unexpected feeling depressed, but it passed relatively quickly.

I got my brackets and archwires at the same time which I think is most common but I know that there's others on here who waited in between.
it has calmed down a bit but when I have milky drinks BOY! it comes back with avengance lol! yuk! I had a hot chocolate today and had to brush my teeth after cos it felt gross!.

I am glad anxiety is normal. I already felt a bit depressed with the arch on but SLOWLY getting used to it but still feeling frustration.

I wish I was getting both at the same time BUT i think the ortho wants to put more spacers in mine first before the archwire goes on to move the teeth a bit more. (GREAT! lol)

I guess once the braces are on and I am feeling used to them I will feel a bit happier about all this! i have had a few laughs at the way I am speaking etc, but it gets really old really quick lol and its hard to have like an argumentive conversation to get your point across it kinda becomes frustrating to speak quickly and swallow at the same time lol! found that out at work today! hahaha.

oh well, i will get there, i am so glad that i have all you great people to talk to, it is making me feel so much better about all this :)

so THANK YOU!!

Wow 37C! That's hot! Wherd I am at, it's not even 37F. Try 0C!

Anyhow, good luck tomorrow! I think I am having tooth sympathy pair or something because of f my molars feels weird. I'm worried it's a toothache because I don't want anything to interfere with my braces but I read maybe if you have a sinus infection, your upper teeth can hurt and that's what I'm hoping. Though I'm just diagnosing myself. Ha
yes! that is my anxiety as well. I feel like "this stuff in my mouth is not normal. what am i doing! i just want to eat normally!" lol. its like you kinda take eating for granted! its weird. lol.

yep! hot hot! it can get to 42C degrees too, i think this year, the hottest so far was 45C.. that was bad.. woah so it is snowing where you are? we get zero degrees here too but not that often, only mainly in the mountains. Where abouts do you live? USA? :)

ooOoOo that is weird that your molars feel weird!! do you know what though! my molars were feeling weird a few weeks ago (before spacers and everything went in) and i got ulcers there too! and i was worried "oh great, now i have to delay orthodontist work longer!" but then they went away. its weird! and i said to someone on these boards that i felt like my teeth were having sympathy pain for them lol. I hope your teeth feel better and that you dont have a sinus infection cos they are the worst! dont worry, i always self diagnose and google stuff! ITS A BAD IDEA! lol i keep thinking i have all these really bad diseases! lol.

hahaha hijacking my thread, all good! :)

well, i just took my pics with my iphone! i just kinda held the phone up and hoped for the best lol! they are not the best pics, when i get my braces I will try and take some better ones!! On a few pics that I tried on my phone, my teeth looked yellow as well, i think maybe it had something to do with the flash? i am not sure... maybe make sure the flash is off?

thanks for the well wishes :) i will check in later on tomorrow and let you all know how i went! :) :flowerbloom: :GapToothed:

Tonight kids, I ate FISH AND CHIPS (again .. yes... fatty ... LOL). and half a tub of ben and jerrys half baked.. SOMEONE PLEASE STOP ME! i have another "chocolate brownie fudge" flavor in the fridge.. and i thought i was going to LOSE weight with braces! lol.

Thought i better get a final "feast" in before the teeth extractions. Eating with the lingual arch nance button was interesting, and my right molar which has the band on is quite sore now... not sure if this is normal? and also i feel the top part of the tooth above the molar band is going kinda a yellow/brown colour.. not sure if its just the shadow from the band or if just from 2 days wear my tooth is going bad?? i am stressing a bit about it and tried to clean it with the waterpik, toothbrush and little toothbrush pick things i got from the supermarket and then my gum bleed a bit... i am going to get the dentist to check out the teeth before he starts yanking out the other ones!! maybe the brown/yellow is the glue they used to glue them on? i have no idea... not many people have this nance so not sure if anyone can help me?

well, tomorrow is GOODBYE 5 TEETH. i am starting to get nervous. BUT i am just trying to think positve and that i will have a great smile after all this is over, and this weekend is a long weekend in Melbourne, Australia so i get a 5 day weekend as I have tomorrow and friday off and monday is the public holiday. I have hired "how i met your mother" season 7 to watch , and season 1 of "modern family" (thought i would try and get into that show, i do like the comedies!"

i am going to go and make some jelly now so its ready to go for tomorrow night when i feel like food! (yep! more sugar)

if anyone has any SOFT food that is NOT full of sugar and EASY to make or just straight out buy, please let me know....

talk to you all tomorrow if i am feeling up to it :) :flowerbloom:

I just take pictures like OF does :) I use the mirror to see the viewing screen of the camera (with 2 of us in braces and twin 10 year olds our mirror is rarely clean enough for photo's no matter how often I wipe it down!). Also take your photo's in natural light if you can without a flash.

Good luck for today rhibee!! I would suggest soup but it's far too hot for that at the moment (that being said, I had a number of days eating hot hot soup when it was like 40 C outside, blech!). Maybe chilled soup? I know there's a yummy sounding cucumber recipe on the interwebs, but I haven't tried it.

Scrambled eggs usually go down pretty well even though they have some texture. If you take small enough bites you don't have to chew :P

Unsweetned yoghurt mixed with fruit puree works well too (still has sugar but at least it's not a whole bunch of added sugar).

As for the yellowing/browning, probably a good idea to ask your dentist. Some people find the glue does change colour with certain foods. My glue is as white as the day he put it on for some reason (surprises me because my currently hated clear ligs are starting to turn a charming shade of yellow orange-gah!).

Duh, why didn't I thin to turn the camera around!? Maybe I'll try that tonight. I am indeed in the USA... A the warmer part of Alaska (it isn't super freezing cold everywhere in Alaska.) But I'm in a colder part for my work trip.

I have a good Cream of Potato soup that I just recently made that I thought would be good braces food... though... with it as hot over there, you might not want that!

Hi lovelies.

I AM SO BRAVE! lol.

Today I had the 5 teeth extracted. It was so much LESS than what I thought it was going to be! I was so worried going in I was so nervous I was shaking a bit! BUT I DID IT!! :GapToothed:

I went in to the dentist room, sat in the chair and took a deep breath. I asked the dentist to check out my molar bands as I was worried about discolouration that i thought was happening BUT turns out, it was just a shadow as the metal casts a shadow on the tooth and they are looking fine, SILLY ME! lol Anyway, then he dabbed some stuff on my teeth and then I rinsed and then he gave me 4 injections! (I had my eyes shut the WHOLE TIME! lol) and they HURT!! and then my lower lip and cheeks went numb and I felt like my lower lip was the size of a football lol! it felt SO WEIRD! hahaha, then he poked around at my teeth asking if I could feel anything and I said no. he said "if you feel any pain at all during the procedure let me know by raising your hand" and i automatically think "oh god! im gonna feel it! im gonna feel it!" lol. and then he goes "now you will feel lots of pressure, do not confuse that with pain" and im thinking oh god this is gonna feel weird! and he started with the lower right tooth (which was a baby and was decayed) and yoink! it was out and i am thinking ummm IS THAT IT!? lol i could not feel it at all!! he did the other premolars and then i was worried cos I was always worried about taking out the upper left wisdom tooth... its so big and right at the back and its scary! lol anyway i could feel the pressure as he was wobbling it with the tool trying to make it loose. i had to actually close my mouth and move my jaw to the left for him to get it out, and POP it was out and the next thing i know the gaw is in my mouth and its all over! I was left laying on the chair for a bit (mind u i think i was drooling heaps cos the assistant kept wiping it up lol! but i couldnt feel the drool so i was like "lah lah lah lah lol!) while i was laying there biting on the gaws i was swallowing blood and was getting a bit sick of laying there and was hoping the dentist would come back! anyway he came back and they took the gaws out and said that the clots had already formed nicely and i was like woohoo! anyway, my boyfriend was waiting in the waiting room and heard me laugh a few times lol. I laughed cos the dentist asked me if i wanted to keep my teeth! lol and he joked that they would make a nice necklace!! hahahaha! I am not sure who laughs after having teeth out but i did! lol and I didnt even have any gas or anything! just the numbing needles :) anyway i kept my teeth lol they are in a little sterile baggy and woah.. i had NO IDEA how decayed the baby teeth were. the lower one had ONE root on it.. crazy...

anyway.. I am doing ok, the numbness wore off and i had taken nerofen before the numbness wore off so I am not in to much pain at the moment. I ate a tub of chocolate brownie ben and jerry icecream beffore (being careful not to eat the brownie biscuit bits (probably the best part damn it! lol) it was so yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!! I am craving REAL food as my boyfriend is cooking some meat pies and chips in the oven! I think i will have more scrambled eggs for breakfast in the morning, i think they will go down ok.

I was told tonight before bed to do a salt rinse and to brush my teeth lightly. I am a bit worried to do that and i read that you are not allowed to use toothpaste so i think i will just do the rinse and see how i go in the morning.

I hope that the blood goes away soon as I can still taste blood but they are not bleeding anymore, just blood clots.

i hope they heal fast.... pudding and eggs tomorrow i think! lol

hope everyone else is doing well! i am so glad that the teeth are out cos the next step is BRACES!!! in 4 weeks!!

I am so proud of myself for going through with this and cant wait to have fantastic straight teeth :-* :GapToothed:

Omg that's so great that everything went well with your extractions!!!! You had me cracking up about your drool. Haha that was a good laugh ;) anyways your dentist sounds awesome! I wish I could have kept my wisdom teeth when they took them out, that would have been cool to check them out! But I'm so happy for you now you get braces in a MONTH! That's so crazy, it's right around the corner for you!!! I've been kinda MIA on this thread lately but I get an email everytime someone posts on something I've posted in so I'm still following everything that your going through, and it sounds like you've had a few ups and downs, but it will all be worth it soon!!! (Honestly I'm so glad I don't need spacers, I have a greater respect for people that get them) lol :-**
Lol well anyways I hope the sockets heal up quick so you can go back to eating lots of ice cream!!!

Woo! Glad they're out and it all went smoothly  My dentist said the same about the hand waving. Mine hurt coming out (had a huge spike on it) and I had my hand up wagging it about everywhere and he IGNORED me and kept going!!! I'm 2nd guessing going back there to be honest. He got kind of mad at me because I tried to talk when he wouldn't acknowledge my hand waving.

Hope the taste goes away soon! I hate that blood flavour :(
