Let's see, in the time since I was last on here, I have had 2 adjustments. Both went fine. I now have a square wire on the top. The orthodontist has also placed the brackets on my back molars now! That was really uncomfortable! My cheeks rubbed them all the time and I had a sore in my mouth for over a month straight!
I will post pictures within the next few days. My next adjustment is October 8th.

Let's see, I haven't been on here in a LONG time! In my defense I did graduate with my Bachelor's degree during that time though!
I wen't to the orthodontist last week and he "seperated" my wire on the top and bottom. Which is just a fancy way of saying the made it shorter so that is is only on my front teeth top and bottom up to the premolars. He removed the brackets from my promolars and I had them extracted yesterday! All four of them! He also said that I might be done before Christmas this year!
I go back to the orthodontist on Monday to get the wires put back and he said he was going to "really crank down on them". I was also told that I am in my "final wires". I will definitely take pictures when I get my wires back on. Right now the extractions look icky!

Today ( I swear they aren't really that yellow!)
Yesterday the put the square wires back on top and bottom. They also put a power chain on both! Holy crap am I sore! It sucks that I was just beginning to be able to eat again after the extractions and now I hurt like there is no tomorrow! It felt like she was trying to pull out my teeth when I had the power chains put on.
Dr. Ferris says that I might be done before my husband comes home from Afghanistan in Nov - Dec!

What a great double Christmas present that would be - having your husband back AND having a beautiful set of teeth to show off when he gets there! I hope you do get them off by then!!!
Welcome back, Bekah. I have some question about your extractions: why were 4 of your premolars removed? Were extractions always part of your treatment plan? Why at 10 months in? I ask these questions because I worry that my own ortho will want me to remove some teeth (wisdom or premolars). Maybe it's just an irrational fear on my part.
Alright, questions over. On a different note, you're one of my braces partners. (We started around the same week.) I think Flaka is another one. As such, it's great to follow the progress of those who started their braces journey at roughly the same time as me.

Neptune- The reason that I had my premolars removed was that I do not really have a chin. I basically looks like I have 2! Dr. Ferris wanted to wait because he was hoping to fix my crowding without extractions. He said he wanted to wait and not jump the gun.
It is nice to see someone else who has had the braces as long as I have! I can't believe that it has been almost a year already! So far I am thrilled with the results and I am not worried about hurrying up right now. I would be happy to have them off when my Hubby comes home but if it doesn't happen that way I don't think it will bother me too bad! I actually like having braces!

Wow with all the computer problems lately it is sad to say that my one year mark has come and gone and I didn't even notice! I have an adjustment on Monday and then I will take some pictures and post them!

Okay, so I went to the Orthodontist yesterday for my normal adjustment. I get introduced to the "new girl" (her words not mine!). Everything is going great I have never had anyone that concerned about wires poking me. Everything was fine until she puts the power chain back on!
Apparently she has no experience with it and I am her On the job training. I have a high pain threshold and have never had any other problems with power chains. I had them on the week after my extractions! She had me literally crying before she was done between her yanking on my teeth and her fingernail in my gum, I was going to seriously hurt her!
So I get home and look in the mirror only to find that she skipped links over every extraction gap! I called the orthodontist because we are trying to close them not maintain the space and sure enough I have to go back! So I go back in and find out that she didn't just skip over my extractions. When the other assistant fixed them, she had to clip 5 extra links on top and 5 on the bottom! All she could say is "No wonder you aren't feeling any pressure".
Any way, other than that snafu, I am making progress. I am trying to get my camera to take decent pics of my teeth but I am having problems with it right now. I will take some tomorrow.
I was told that all I am doing is closing gaps and then he will put a bend in the wire to get one of my bottoms level. We are praying to be done by November when my hubby gets back from Afghanistan!

Wow I haven't been here in forever! Let's see, I am still closing gaps, I had a major issue when two brackets in the front came off and I didn't notice. So they had to rebond them and move me back a wire!
I was told to come back in one week, which was today, and the ortho sprung class II elastics on me! The package says "heavy" on it. Holy crap! I will never complain that my teeth hurt again! I have had them on today and they are KILLING me! Splitting headache.
The assistant asked me why I only had three teeth taken out! Which was funny because that means that the gap has closed so much on the bottom right that she can no longer tell I had an extraction! Love it.
We are still praying for a November debanding date although I don't have my heart set on it! I will post pics soon. Although I will have to take the elastics off to do that because I can only open my mouth about a half inch!
