We could be checking out each other's brackets, comparing in the mirror, asking others where their braces are. I mean c'mon, it's all the rage!

Today D and I went up to Paradise at Mt. Rainier and had a picnic. It was really a nice day. I have found that the elastics hurt the inside of my cheeks the most when I talk a lot. The elastic on the right side was just rubbing like rope on the inside of my cheek, and I had to use Oragel all day. There is quite a sore there, but I have learned one thing--just keep the jabbering down....

I'm getting pretty annoyed with these elastics..what happens is that when my teeth move, the position of the elastics move. And right now they are rubbing the inside corners of my mouth. I've got some real sores going on, and the elastics just keep rubbing on the sores. I have used Oragel yesterday and today. I am going to use Rincinol at bedtime.

I have to say, this elastics thing, where they are now and what they are doing SUCKS THE BIG ONE!!!!! And anything else I would say can not really be said on this site!!! :-+ :-+ :-+

I had a dream last night---I ate dinner and when I went to brush my teeth, I saw that all of my brackets on the bottom, except one, and my bottom archwire were missing. Where did they go? I didn't remember swallowing them...??? And in my dream all I could think was, "I think this one IS going to cost me $50" !!

Let's analyze...
The dream could mean "brace yourself" meaning use caution and prepare for an issue or situation. (I pulled this from the web)

Hey Kip-

I replied to what you posted on your blog--weird....

So--the elastics have been a lot better the last few days--not so much miserable rubbing. I have a terrible habit of playing with the elastics with my tongue, and moving them with my fingers...gotta stop it!!! My tongue is getting sore from it!!

I am a little discouraged...I see the pics of others, and there progress is amazing in the same amount of time as me.
And everyone is talking about their adjustments and the changes...2 months in, and my 1st adjustment isnt until July 26!

I guess the ortho knew my teeth were going to be super stubborn or something. He told me to be ready for my teeth to feel loose. I got nothin'.....Nothing....I can't even really see any changes at all....I hope I don't end up with the 4yr sentence that my regular dentist had while in her late 40's. Think I would have to have them taken off...at 55, life is too short...I will give it til 58...then that's it...ya, I'm kinda down about it......like are my crummy teeth even worth this?
Crummy enamel, not strong and white looking, not even moving a bit, what am I doing anyway.....

My archwire came out of the buccal tube on the other side of my mouth!! I was flossing and it popped right out. I managed to get it back in. I am hoping that it doesnt keep popping out all weekend. The ortho isn't open until next Tuesday because of the 4th of July holiday weekend. I hope that if it does keep popping out, that I can hold it down with wax.......hmmmmmm...

I've decided to pretty much ignore my braces. If I keep looking at them and expecting to see changes and I don't, I get discouraged too. So, instead, I just put the camera away and let it go. Yeah I check them out in the mirror nearly every time I get in front of one...but I'm going to trust my ortho that he knows what he's doing.

Klobird, I hear your discouragement...try to back away and not focus on the minutia anymore. It is worth it, but it takes time. You're early into your treatment...you'll be fine. Hang in there.

Hey thanks Kip-I know you're right...

I frequently talk to a woman at work about my braces, because she's interested, and had a daughter who had to have the Herbst and the whole nine yards. Anyway, I told her I was bummed about my braces and what I feel to be a lack of change, and she said she has seen a LOT of change. And when she said that, another friend at work said "Dont you remember me telling you yesterday how much change there has been with your braces" ?....I really, truly did not hear her say that. I must have had something else pressing on my mind...
The other lady said if I'm always looking in the mirror (which I am), that I will NEVER see a change. I've decided she's right too.

It's hard to ignore the braces. I think that if the elastics weren't there it would be a lot easier. They are just a constant annoyance. Without them I hardly feel my braces, and I'm getting really used to eating, cleaning etc. It's really getting to be my normal.

I just have to focus on my life, and try to see the positives of the braces. I am really getting used to the idea of them being in my life for let's see---9 weeks down today, so that makes 95 weeks to go!

And I haven't had any elastics rubbing pain for about a week (that was a bad bout last week), and the archwire, so far,
since last night has decided to stay in the buccal tube for now. And I have a good, busy weekend planned with a lot of friends. So, it's all going to work out....

I am so glad for the support of this website. And thanks Kip for being a part of that...

awww klobird, be positive :) think about the end result and try to convince yourself hehe easy said then done. But seriously, you may have not seen change, but others will definitely have! If you are still not convinced, take a picture of your teeth and take another one 1-2 months later, it will be very very clear :)
