another adjustment...

My midline is almost there :)
Ortho put some more bite opening curve on my bottom wire, as always...
This time they out a biteopening curve to my top archwire, too. I hope my bite now will open. I have een wearing elastics only on my right side, but this time they want to pull my front teeth back, so elastics both sides, but right side is doubled. My lower incissors do not touch my upper incissors. I still have 4 mm overjet. Hopefully this elastic configuration will pull the front teeth back. ortho said that next time we start fine tuning, so i guess my bite will be ok by then.

After one day with these elastics my teeth are pretty sore, and I can feel that my bite is better :)

platinum: I happened upon your story after reading a post you made somewhere about being allergic to nickel. So am I. Did not being about to use NiTi(sp) wires affect your treatment or outcome at all? I also have 'black holes' on the sides of my smile - has this improved for you? Best of luck on your midline and overjet!

I think the non-nickel wires are stiffer and more painful. Some occasions the orthho would have liekd to have nickel wire but it seems stainless steel will work, too.

It is difficult to say if my black holes have gotten smaller, because of the braces...

Yep! My bite feels better, and there is still 5 weeks to my next appointment!

Ugh!

I got a rash around my mouth. It was worst on my upper lip. I had lots of little blisters, dry skin patches and my lips were itching all the time.

I went to ortho andIinformed the ortho that something must be done, since the rash started to be unbearable.
I have nickel free titanium brackets and some ceramic ones. So the possible nickel must have leached from my stainless steel archwires or from my molar bands.
He changed my archwires and put on latex free elastics. I still have lower molar bands that contains nickel, and they will be replaced if the rash does not go away.

My lip looks already better! My boyfriend commented that the swelling on my top lip has gotten down. My lips do not itch anymore :) It seems that stainless steel archwire was corroded and released some nickel. Now I am waiting for the rash disappear fully.

It was at the same time an adjustment, since my next appointmet would have been in one week. I got some kinks on my top wire, just before bicuspids. My overjet is really small now and the midline is perfect. Now I wear class II elastics on both sides 24/7.

Hey Nina

How are you doing?

Are you going to be out of braces soon...?

I'm curious as our issues and treatment plans sounded similar though I think you started 6 months before me.

I was estimated at 18 months.
