Hi, sorry for the delay in responding, have only just got broadband installed at the new house. The move went well thanks (apart from the decorating, dealing with utility companies, setting up a phone line, unpacking, trying to find things, visiting DIY stores, plumbing etc. etc.)

How are you getting on? Hopefully the frustration you felt a few weeks ago is starting to pass? It sounds like a breakdown of trust and communication between your ortho and you and although you must have felt pretty annoyed, I'm sure whatever happens is for the better and will give you the great result you are looking for. Would a frank conversation with your ortho sort out this issue? Appreciating that you may not be finished by June, I'm sure the extra few months will be so worth it as finishing your treatment early would not give you the results you would be happy with. In my experience, back teeth do move, they just take a little more time.

Your holiday sounds fantastic! Hamilton Island is a place I have read about but will be unlikely to visit so I'm sure you will have a great time (with or without braces!).

hi All, sorry a quick update as i am work and being sneaky! haha.

Just got back from my adjustment, it went well this time and the molar has moved into place!! WOOHOO, its not straight, but it does connect with the bottom molar and he was happy with that so i am too lol. :D

The extra wire on the top has come off (woohoo) and I am back in elastics to fix my bite as it has raised on the right hand side, and my ortho made me all excited cos he said “so, I hear you are having a birthday soon” and I said “yes!! are they gonna be off by then!??” and he goes “oh I have to be honest and say no” and im like OMG whyyyyy would you get me all excited like that? Anyway I didn’t ask how much longer, I am just gonna play it out cos I can’t do anything about how much longer it is and basically it might end up being a surprise if they come off sooner than later so who knows…

My next adjustment is in four weeks, 16th April, so see how things go then!

Least the additional wire is off, and the molar has moved, so things are looking good now and i am feeling a lot happier!

Hey Neil! I know I haven't been on for a while! Thanks for your message. Yep! Heading to Hamilton Island on Friday! We r so excited and I can't wait for the end of the day tomorrow cos I will be officially on holidays! :D

Guess what?! My top braces may be off at my next adjustment!! On 18th June! If not, will be July but the ortho said they r just about ready to come off! My bottom braces are still being stubborn and maybe another 2-4 moths but if the top ones can come off soon I will be so excited! But I got a bit nervous when he said they could come off! Hehe

How r you going with your Braces? Must be due to come off very soon!!

Hi all

Well its been a while since I have been on here, but I think these suckers will be coming off soon!!!!!!

My last adjustment was 18th June, my Ortho said my bite is PERFECT and between now and my next adjustment I need to look closely at my teeth to see what I would like to improve if anything! My next adjustment is the 16th July so fingers crossed not much longer to go!!! I made an August appointment as well just in case, so my prediction is that they will be off IN AUGUST! FINGERS CROSSED!! My Ortho hasn’t actually given me a debanding date, but maybe next adjustment he will and we will take it from there.

I AM GETTING EXCITED AND NERVOUS all at the same time! :-*

I have heard the retainer can be just as bad if not worse than the braces, but I am sure I will get used to it! I think I have to wear my retainer for 6 months day and night, and then just at night from then onwards, WOOT!!

Anyway! Just a little update but I will keep you posted!!

Hi Everyone

Thought I would post a little message cos ……….

I HAVE BEEN GIVEN A POSSIBLE DE-BANDING DATE!!!!!!!!!!!!! *dances* :jump: :singing:

15th SEPTEMBER! I AM VERY EXCITED!! :-* :-* :-* :D

It would have been August, but my Ortho has gone away for 4 weeks… NOT COOL… so I have to wait until he is back and got the most earliest available appointment I could!

So, if top and bottom don’t come off, he said that the top will at least be ready to come off, so either way, something should be coming off!! and then I will get my retainer the next day at 5:00pm!

I am actually quite scared to get them off, and worried it will hurt, as my two top front teeth are very sensitive at adjustments and tend to feel like he is going to pull them out with the slightest touch! But fingers crossed all will be ok!

Anyway!! Its going to be the longest 8 weeks of my life waiting!!! Haha, but , maybe next time I am on here, I will be showing pics of my UNBRACED TEETH! WOOT!   :-* :-* :-*

Hi Rhibee, that's great news! And 15th Sep isn't far away too. You must post some photos to show your progress as I'm sure your teeth are looking fantastic by now.

I have been watching loads of de bonding videos on YouTube and guess they just distort the bracket slightly to make the glue separate? I had a bracket repositioned earlier in my treatment and it just snapped off completely painlessly. If you have sensitive teeth, maybe you can bite into some cotton wool to avoid any pressure on the teeth?

Any idea about what retainers you will be getting? Any preference? From what I have read, the retention phase is really important to achieve a long term stable result so no slacking!

I'm really pleased for you and can't wait to see the final results. Hope the next few weeks flys by.

Hi Neil

i know i am hanging out for 15th Sept! I keep looking at my teeth and then thinking one side is sitting higher than the other side and i am freaking myself out and i am worried his not gonna take them off, but maybe i am just worried for no reason! hehe.

oh cotton wool is a good idea!! i always tell him the front two are sensitive so he might be extra careful with those!

I am not sure what retainer i am getting, but i think its a metal one? his pretty old school this ortho and i dont want a clear one cos i will just grind it away in my sleep! I am having a permanent retainer on the bottom teeth for a while, which as his so old school, i think i will still have two molar bands on to keep that in place, which will be odd, but that will come off in around 6 months i think. FUN AND GAMES! i am not 100% sure about the molar bands but i think that is how they will work.

To me, my teeth dont look that different from previous pics i have posted lol, he hasnt done much more work to the top ones, but in saying that, i haven't looked at old and now pics for a while, so on the weekend i might post a few when i get a moment :D

awww thanks Neil! :) gosh i didnt realise the pics were so big!! haha i uploaded them from my phone and they are huge on the computer! oops!

i hope they are ready to come off! you know how we keep looking at every tiny detail when they are nearly done? it is not fun and i am second guessing some things but i am just going to let it slide cos nobody's teeth are perfect and if the Ortho thinks they are ready then i am happy and the things i have noticed no one would even notice unless they had a magnifier glass! lol :biglaf:

thanks for your comment, that has made me happy :D
