Hi all :) yes OF it has been a while. Nothing much to update on as I am at he boring stage of braces!! No new wires, just powerchain on the bottom and wearing 1 elastic on the right during the day but two when I sleep (1 each side). Been like that for a few appointments now which has been making it easy to eat as not much pain :) just getting my bite in place I think! It is annoying tho and I want more progress soon but I guess slow and steady wins the race!

Bottom gaps are closing , left one still open more than the right and ortho thinks I will have to get molar bands on my very back molars soon as they are not moving with the other teeth and gaps r forming which sucks cos I didn't want the back molars included but oh well!

Cannot believe in April next year I would of had these suckers for 1 year!!!! Time goes so fast. This time last year I was telling everyone I wanted braces next year lol and here we are! Still another year to go though but hopefully it's goes just as fast (well only for my braces, I'm not wishing my life away! Lol)

I got most my Xmas shopping done and now finally relaxing on my day off!

Hope all is well and have a wonderful Xmas all and a safe and happy new year :)

Hi Rhibee, it's good to hear from you again, I was wondering where you had gone as we started about the same time. I know the feeling, I've also reached the boring stage when everything seems to be taking forever but things do move eventually, maybe it's all happening near the roots so we can't see? I think I will be starting with elastics in the spring next year but it all depends on how I get on with these latest wires. I'm aiming to be completed by Christmas next year but guess it will take as long as it takes. Have a great Christmas.

How much movement have you seen due to your class IIs? You do great profile photos. You should compare when you first started with class IIs vs where you are now. Just to see the progress.

Has your bite change much. I know I am being forced to move my bottom jaw in to chew just to the front teeth don't hit.

Hope all is good.

Hi All

Yes its been a while since I have posted on this site, getting a bit over my braces and kinda just want them off. Still another year to go! Hooray…….. lol.

I think its my ninth adjustment tonight! I am just expecting the same as my many past adjustments, boring and uneventful lol. New powerchain on the bottom and continue to use my elastics. Ugh I just want something different and I am REALLY wanting this upper lingual arch and nance button to come off now, I am so over it, sick of food getting stuck in it all the time and its driving me nuts lol. I was reading back on some of my past entries, and I was so excited to get braces lol and now I am like GET OFF ALREADY lol.

I will let you know if I get anything else done tonight while I am at my adjustment. Would be nice, but I don’t see it happening. Last time I went the ortho said that they might have to put molar bands on my very back molars soon as they are not moving into the gaps as the other teeth move, they are not budging, so that will be fun and I am sure add another few months onto my sentence…

Least I am not getting much pain with this part of the treatment and can in fact eat a vegemite sandwich without having to break it apart lol, but that is about it. I actually would rather pick it apart cos getting bread stuck in the front of them is not really fun!

I have also been less productive with my cleaning…. I have been on Christmas holidays so I was only brushing morning and night and sometimes even ditching the flossing. I have noticed tartar build up around my bottom brackets, which the ortho had to clean off last time lol so I will just ask him to clean them off again, no nomination for the cleanness award for me at the ortho office I don’t think! Lol.

Does anyone else get like that? Have their braces for ages then get really over them and not get so good with the cleaning?? I feel bad but it just takes so long and sometimes I just can’t be bothered. I really should ditch that attitude though as I don’t want it to affect my teeth in the long run.

Anyway, if anything new happens tonight, I will fill you in!

Hope everyone else is going well with their journey still! :-*

Hi OF

I have seen quite a bit of movement with my elastics, my teeth have been pulled back a bit and my overbite has reduced  I will need to take some new pictures, I haven’t in a while!

My front teeth used to hit my bottom brackets, but not so much now, I think wearing the one elastic on the one side during the day kinda stops that. My bite has changed and feels pretty good but every time I go to the ortho he says we are on track but I still have to keep my elastics and not really moving onto anything different and it’s like ARGH so over it!

I will have to have a sneaky peak at your blog cos I haven’t read anyone’s for a while, so while I am not that busy at work, I might read a few and catch up!

Hope all is well! :D

More molar bands, I think you go for a record because you will have 4 on top and 6 on the bottom. All for beauty, and it hurts!!!

HI ALL

OKAY so I can finally say I HAVE AN UPDATE! lol.

You know I wanted them to actually do something else this time around instead of just giving me a new powerchain on the bottom and that was all?

well... I HAVE MOLAR BANDS ON MY VERY BACK LOWER MOLARS and IT SUCKS LEMONS! lol. No powerchain on the bottom tho, just the extra wire that runs from the first molar to the back one. it FEELS WEIRD and they are already rubbing the back of my gum/mouth which the ortho said they probably will. hooray... so I walked outta there with a tonne of wax BUT I am thinking, okay PROGRESS PLUS lol.

ALSO - he said MAYBE at my next adjustment or the one after, I WILL GET MY LINGUAL ARCH AND NANCE REMOVED! yes there are a lot of caps lock letters happening in this post cos I am just a bit EXCITED! lol.
I have been waiting forever to get this thing off the roof of my mouth and I think soon it will happen!!!!!!!!!!!!! that means, my top gaps will be able to close TOGETHER and my profile shouldn't change to much as it wont be just the front teeth moving into the gaps, the back will as well, so it should be A-OK! which makes me feel VERY HAPPY lol. :-*

I have stocked up on nerofen and have a liquid lunch today of protein shake, soup and yoghurt. feels like square one again hahaha. oh well, I am hoping the pain will go away soon and I will be ok to eat normal again, I have even been eating salad lately! which has been nice for a change. but now, back to the old school soft foods for a bit haha.

Here are a few progress pics :D

Thanks twinnie!! :D it is easier, which is weird, cos I never really noticed till you just said that lol but I used to close my mouth and one tooth would kinda stick out on my lip, like just a tiny bit would sit on my lip in a weird way sometimes lol but not anymore :) and I can smile knowing that no one is staring at this one tooth sticking out lol.

I mean I can still see that the front tooth is still a bit forward, only just, or something isn't right there still, but its only been 9 months and it will get fixed by the end.

rhibee83, how did your orthodontist improve your over jet? With braces, elastics or both?

Hi Matilda :)

I had extractions, 2 top and 2 bottom (2 were baby teeth that were decaying though so they had to come out, so he took the opposite ones out on both sides to even it up).

Yep, just normal metal braces, I have a upper lingual arch and nance button to hold top back molars in place so that they do not come forward and create more of an overjet and the elastics have bought my overjet backwards, and soon my nance button will come off so that the top gaps can close nicely. I am assuming I will still wear elastics while they are closing to keep the overjet in position. its weird, as soon as I take my elastics off I feel like my teeth move a bit, just by having them off when I brush my teeth. they really do wonders for sure!

do you have an overjet?
