Oh Sunshine Ray!! I am so sorry !! Today was not suppose to be like this! I hope your pain of your teeth..and your headache go away soon!! Hopefully you get some sleep tonight and tomorrow will look better!
BTW...what are TAD's? They screw them INTO your gum line ???
Sending you happy thoughts hoping you are feeling better !!
Oh, my God, I am so sorry to hear about this experience. It sounds like it was truly horrific. I don't have any TADS so I don't really know what is involved with putting them in except that everything I've read said it should be relatively painless. Eeek! You poor thing! I hope you will feel better. Try not to second-guess your decision about getting braces for a few days. Give yourself a little bit of time for the pain to go away. Same thing happened to me, though.
The reason your teeth look yellow is probably because of the glue they use to attach the brackets. My teeth still look yellow when I look in the mirror but I may not have good lighting. Hang in there, Sunshiney. Things will get better, I promise!
JeniK-
Temporary anchorage devices, or TADs, are small titanium anchors used in some orthodontic cases to help achieve tooth movement more quickly, efficiently, and with as much comfort as possible. TADs are used to help straighten teeth in situations where braces alone are not enough. TADs are also used as an alternative to headgear.
TADs are place without the use of a needle. A strong anesthetic is used to numb the gum tissue and the jaw surrounding the area the TAD will be placed. Once the area is numb, either your orthodontist or an oral surgeon gently places the TAD through the gum tissue and firmly into the jawbone. The placing of a TAD is quick, with very little to no pain. You may feel slight pressure as the TAD is placed; however, within a day, you will no longer be able to feel the TAD. Your TAD is removed once your treatment is complete, or when it is no longer needed to help straighten your teeth. Removal of a TAD takes just minutes, and is completely pain-free.
lol, figures I am in the minority. I did read since Ive been home how it does hurt some people. There was a few posts on here actually that came up in my google search. Everything I read said they dont hurt. I just took 3 Advil so Im hoping that I feel some relief from the pressure now.
Thank you Sunshine Ray for explaining that to me! I highly doubt if I will get that. With the bone medication I was on....the side effect is infection in the jaw bone. So I am hoping we stay away from doing that to my jaw!
I will be getting ceramic on top and metal on bottom. Interested to hear your experience with this! So I will know what is ahead of me!
OMG so sorry to here you had a bad experience. Anything they screw in to the gum and jaw bone sounds like it would hurt to me and no shot? just numbing on the area thats crazy I would want a shot. I don't know what strength your IB is I would assume its 200 per tablet I take 600 or three Tab's normally with food every 6 hr's if need when its that time a month for me maybe that will help better for you. I have some stronger medicine left over from a tooth infection I had last year I'm saving it just in case I need it when I get my arch expander in. I took it with the IB back then, its the only thing that helped. I found out that getting teeth pulled hardly hurts at all but a tooth infection is the worst pain I've ever endured don't want to do that again.
Hope you feel better soon and can get a good night sleep. Take care
Awww no ((((hugs)))). Sounds like a miserable day for you! I think it's rude that you were left sitting around for so long! I get that ortho's are busy and sometimes need to duck out but you shouldn't be left there for that long!
Try not to decide just yet you've made the wrong decision. I have clears/ceramics and they felt HUGE and scratchy for quite some time. At least a number of weeks. I think I spent the first 2 months of it wondering what the heck I'd been thinking. It didn't take long for me to feel like I could close my mouth again though without straining and the weird scratchy feeling does wear off, I promise! (Except for when you eat some things like yoghurt or chocolate, then they feel scratchy again until you brush it off).
I'm sorry that today was traumatic! I think the first few days are the worst. Hopefully in a few days you will be feeling a bit better! On the bright side...you finally got braces!!! Yay! Congrats and now you can start counting down the days until you have the smile you've been dreaming of!!

You guys are great! I slept all night and felt fine this morning but I still took some advil, just in case. I'm doing much better today. I think being there that long and then everything going wrong just set this off on the wrong foot.
I am paranoid about everything staining them though. I have blue toothpaste and remember reading on here about blue mouthwash staining.
Im going to attempt pics soon so I can track the progress. I tried before and it looked huge!
Glad to know you got a good night's sleep. I was worried about you!
Just give yourself a few days and things will start to feel much better. Promise!! I'm sure that you've made the right decision. I agree with you that all that waiting around in his office probably got things off on the wrong foot and then all the business with the TAD?? I don't think that's normal. But just try to relax as much as you can. You'll be feeling much better in a day or so.
So sorry to hear about your experience, it shouldn't have been like that. There's no excuse for keeping you hanging around and for not giving you the full attention you deserve. Hope you start to feel better soon and look forward to seeing the photos.

Glad you're feeling a little better today! I know it's tough but try not to worry too much about staining. I've only stained mine once and it was with accidental curry and even with that happening they only look funny under bright light. Most mouthwashes and stuff the staining is only temporary and brushes away (although I don't recommend those plaque staining tablets, they're really tough to get off!)
