I think your overjet being bigger kind of goes with the "it gets worse before it gets better" idea. I think mine has gotten worse also.

KK, bracedagain, and Laurie

Yep, i better be the 'gets worse first' stuff :)

I have kind of rabbit look at the moment. Next time I won't take clear ligs. Grey or silver, or maybe some shock colour :)

Some pictures after my first adjustment for uppers. The wire was not changed because of the crooked second lateral :(. Lower wire was not chnged either.... too little movement. Here is a picture of my upper braces now (left) and in the beginning (right).
My midline seems to be quite off, when comparing lowers and uppers.

Wow Platinum - I just read up on your story since I'm new to the board, and I have to say I commend you on all that you've been through on your journey so far. Congrats on quitting smoking too! :jump: I used to smoke and I know how difficult it is to quit. I've been smoke-free now for about 6 years and it is definitely worth it in the end - especially since it will help with the healing and progress of your braces! :D

And your pictures look really awesome!

Another adjustment.

I got square wire on uppers. The assistant had to squuze it in. I have gaps between my four front teeth :/. I happy my uppers at least are getting somewhere.

Lowers did not get a new wire. The same wire has been now 3 months.
I have in four weeks a appointment for X-ray, and I will have my teeth cleaned as well. They are not planning to change anything then, but four weeks after that I will have brackets repositioned and my second molar bonded.

My camera broke down, so I cant take any pictures :(

Great that your uppers are progressing well. Your lowers look nearly finished, so maybe they don't need to have much done at adjustments!
Ortho wanted to change the lower wire already last time, but teeth had not levelled enough. So they are still levelling. My lowers look good what comes to aligment, though.

I am waiting for the eleastics to get my overjet reduced. It is now 8mm. At the beginning it wa 6 mm. My deepbite has reduced a lot! I am in hurry, because I would like to be finished in 18 months. I will move in a year, so I hope I get my treatment finished by then.

Today I had my teeth cleaned. The hygienist said that I have been cleaning my teeth well :). Last time the news were not that good...

After teeth cleaning I went to ortho and they took X-rays. My roots are straight except of couple teeth. Very good. My teeth have moved very well. In my next appointment in four weeks they will reset some brackets. I hope I will get soon elastics to correct my overjet.

I got a new archwires on top and bottom, and my first power chain on top.
It will close the gaps between my first and second laterals.

I am happy that my teeth are moving so well :)

Another adjustment...

My upper 7th teeth got molar tubes. It was difficult to put them because they are so back and angled. Well, after they were put on, three brackets were taken off form lower number 1-3 teeth. First they put wrong brackets, so then they had to remove them and put my special nickel free ones. Removing brackets was painless and fast. Finally I got my new brackets and new wire. I got stainless steel 0.14 wire... not so happy because I have had quite strong ones already. Downgrading...

When the assistant tried to put the wire to uppers, 0.16, the new molar tube came off. And reglueing again. And because the 7th teeth were so angled I had to get 0.14 wire on uppers as well. The ortho was not so happy about that.
I have had power chains and square wires on uppers but now with light wire all the gaps opened :(. My bite felt quite nice with powerchains, but now it is a mess again. My overjet is the same as before powerchains.

In my next appointment it is only going to be wire change. I am really waiting for that they start to work with my overjet. I am really waiting for elastics.

One year for lower braces and six months for upper braces.
Here is a comparison of my bite.
Unfortunately my old good camera broke down...

I dont really see too much difference...

I got class II elastics finally. Right side 24/7 and left side for 12 hours per day. I hope to see some difference soon!

Yep! It is confusing to wear elastics with different wearing times.
In the morning after having elastics on both sides my bite feels much better. During the day i feel that there is a relapse.... But my bite feels better already :)

Glad to read that you finally got the elastics! Hopefully now you will see alot of movement soon! Tell your ortho about the relapse you feel and maybe he can adjust your wearing times.

Best of luck Nina!
I have just completed my treatment!!

I had an adjustment last week.

I havent noticed but I have had reverse curve archwire for a while. I got some kinks on my lower archwire. For uppers only powerchain was changed. The elastic configuration stayed the same, class II elastics 24/7 for right side and 12 hours per day on left.

Here is some pictures. on the left is my bite now, middle after i got my uppers, and right what my bite was in the beginning

Image Image Image

The is a change in my middle line :), and my overjet is getting smaller.
The goal now is to get my lower incissors to touch my upper incissors. My lower teeth are still wrongly positioned even after 13 months. My uppers are ok, and that was after 6 months.

I had my adjustment today. We are still opening my bite, becasue I still have overbite. I got reverse curve archwire and bimper ligs on my lower teeth to prevent upper teeth to bite brackets off. My uppers have had same wire and power chain for last 4 adjustment.

Last week I bite two brackets off. Both on the lower left side. First came off bracket from my second premolar and 5 days later from my second molar. They put them back but the bracket on my second molar came off after two hours. Today in my adjustment the ortho decided to remove the second molar from the braces.

At the moment they are trying to open my bite and fix the midline. I have class II, div 1, subdivision R (right) bite, e.i. my left side is class I and my right class II. I dont need to wear elastics on my left side anymore. Just on my right side, one elastic during the day and double it for the night.
After the midline is correct, they will pull my uppers back to fix residual overjet. I have 2 to 4 months left :)
