eeeek, its this week! I bought my waterpik on Friday. The ultra was on sale so I got that one but now Im wondering if I should have gotten the portable instead.

Re: Sunshiney Saga
I think the first waterpik I bought was also an ultra. When I discovered that I couldn't get any orthodontic tips for it, though, I went back and bought one I could get them for. You're going to love it! Best investment I've made in a long time!

Re: Sunshiney Saga
ugh, I opened it last night. Did I waste $50 since you cant get an ortho tip?

Re: Sunshiney Saga
Well, don't take my word for it, darlin'. See if you can get one. I'm just telling you my experience. I ordered an orthodontic tip through something called the Waterpik store. When it arrived, it would not fit on my waterpik so I called Waterpik. They told me that the orthodontic tips don't fit on the Ultra. I was astonished. I ended up selling it on Craigslist and buying a new one. See if you can call Waterpik and ask them before you panic. You might even be able to take it back if the plastic pouch that the tips came in is unopened. Good luck!

Re: Sunshiney Saga
Oh that's good. It will save you some money if you don't end up having to replace it.

Re: Sunshiney Saga
Take ibuprofin before you go to get braced. then take it after you are done- if you keep ahead of the pain, it shouldn't be too bad. It worked for me.
Good luck

Re: Sunshiney Saga
Nothing went as planned.
I take 2 Advil 30 mins before I go. Put my chapstick and phone in my pocket to have handy. My appt was at 10:30, by the time I paid and got my contact signed etc it may have been 10:45ish. I hate being in the open room, especially when about 4 sets of kids went in and out while I was there. Thats right I was there forever. It was 2pm when I left. By 12:10 (I text a friend so I know the exact time) I was getting quite irritated because I had only been with the ortho 15 mins tops. He put on the brackets......jumped patient to patient.
Then he numbs me to put in the TAD's. 30 mins later he comes back and puts one TAD in. Everything I read said they didnt hurt. Well Im a wimp because they hurt me tons! It felt like he was breaking every tooth on that side. Then he takes a break to go check out more patients and give me a break since it hurt me. By this point I feel like every kid and parent in the room is staring at me, Im irritated Ive been here this long, in pain and just getting emotional. So when the assistant asked how I was I tried not to cry and said it hurt, the other side was no longer numb (now an hour after the numbing) and Im tired of sitting there. She gave me my goody bag and showed me a brushing video which is usually done at the end but she knew I wanted out of there. Then she tells him that Im not numb on that side anymore. More shots (3, I think) to get me numb. It still hurt. I wince and actually did cry at the pain because he got it all the way in BUUUUUUUT the freakin screwdriver wouldnt come out. Can you believe that? He tried for awhile and it felt like he was tugging it non stop. Finally he unscrewed the TAD, numbed me in another spot and put the TAD there instead.
It still hurts. Im gagging because I feel the TADs on the inside of my mouth. I have a horrible sinus headache. I took a pain pill that I never took from the extractions. That made me nauseous. I cant take Advil till 6 when the pain pill wears off. My front teeth hurt. I feel like the brackets stick out so far. Im a hot mess and wondering if I made the right choice. Oh and I feel like the braces make my teeth look so yellow.
