Hi, Pam, good to hear from you! And yes, surprised to see myself still here, too :P I was hoping to be a member of the Naked Tooth club already, but things just seem to take their time... Blah. Ever heard of a person who never got rid of her braces?

....aaaaaand she hits adjustment #34. Any signs of getting naked? Nope. Instead I got yet another new archwire on top and had 4 brackets replaced with new ones... Ortho says "getting closer, getting closer" but hey, how long still??? It's been "almost there" for months. I told her I'm not looking forward to spending a 4th summer wearing these thingies. She says she aims to get me out of Braceland by summer. Summer of which year, may I ask?

Adjustment #35 was done a week ago. My ortho said "I'm so happy to see that crossbite gone!" There has been that sort of a problem going on in the very back of my mouth so I haven't paid attention to it myself, really. Anyway, ortho let herself get carried away by this good news so much so that she said she's "very hopeful" that my upper braces will be gone by summer. I didn't say "define summer: do you mean summer in Europe or maybe in Australia or what?" although I was tempted to  As I've told here, I was supposed to be "set free" by Christmas... oh well. I didn't even pop up the question about lower braces and when they might be getting on her agenda, I was so glad to hear that there is even a semi-freedom ahead - maybe.

Next appointment in May 19th.

Wow, didn't see this one coming: my ortho just re-scheduled me for debanding on June 9th - four days sooner than originally planned. No complaints from Joplin! :jump:

Oh my gosh Joplin!!!! I'm so excited for you!!!! I don't know if you remember me, but I used to post a lot during the days I had braces. I always liked reading your story because you've been such a grateful trooper. It definately kept my complaining to a minimum. I feel elated for you to have a debanding date set.
I'm sure it's safe to say that I'm not the only one who will be counting down the days with you and waiting to see some pictures.

Thanks, Holly and Ken! :D I keep thinking / talking stuff like this: "this is my last day at work waring braces", "this is the last Wednesday/Thursday/Friday ever when I need to brush my braces", otherwise I'm holding my breath a little - I think deep down there is this dark suspicion that they will come up with something urgent that will change the course of things and I won't be set free after all... Well, they've booked me two appointments: one for the debanding and one for fitting the retainers, so they seem to meaning business!
I'm so glad to feel your support, thanks again!

Here they are now:
Image

I'm spending my 2½ naked hours before I go back in to have a retainer-kind-of-thing fitted. Turns out it's not going to be the final retainer but some sort of an appliance that will still do some work on my left uppers that need to be pushed a little outwards still. EEK, I hope it's not as bad as it sounds
Behind the front lowers there is this permanent wire. No other retention will be added there. I'll report more in detail when I get the new appliance. Until that I'm just trying to believe my braces are actually gone!
