Im having Orthognathic surgery. Fix my underbite

Ok, been awhile once again since an update. Havent been taking pictures because everything seems pretty much the same. All my teeth are aligned straight. Now its just a waiting game...

Time has certainly flown by recently because of my final exams. Which is a good thing. I havent been thinking about this surgery as much, and now i've grown to learn that this isnt going to a be the be-all-end-all of surgeries that will change my life. It will help me from not feeling self conscious from a flaw of mine (which people hardly notice) and i can finally eat properly once my bite is positioned correctly.

Im just feeling good about myself lately. My teeth are dead straight and i have a great smile now.

Im starting to work out so i feel physically great. And it shows too

I bought a GHD mini styler to straighten my hair few days ago off ebay. I am LOVING it. I have easy and beautiful silky straight hair now, and its so easy to use! My hair is so much more manageable.

My skin has been reall good me. Quite smooth now, except for this one dint in my nose (which my sister alwats points out)

Yeah... These little things really make me feel good, and i realise people arent overly concerned with my bite.

ok.. those are my thoughts for today. Just half a year (+ 3 weeks) to go!

Thanks KK, thanks for the encouragement. Im planning to do corporate marketing, so a marketing course it is.

Well today i had an adjustment. I changed to GREEN ligs! I opened my mouth when i got into the car to see my teeth (I Shoulda looked beforehand) It was a horrid sight. A mass of green. I have ceramics on top front six teeth, the doc put greens on the top molars. i dont like the look of it. But now im getting used to it, just looks a lil like i have spinich in my teeth.

The BITTERSWEET news

My doc said my teeth were in excellent condition and arrange for me to have an appointment with my surgeon (for my jaw) . I was stoked at the news that my teeth were almost ready for surgery time. He said between January and February. BUT MY insurance kicks in during MAY! i just went and said "BUGGER" in my head. It would have been of such great convenience if it was during jan and feb (my holidays) instead interupting my year during may.

I gotta look on the brightside of things. I know i have very little patience, i've already waited almost half a year. Just another half a year to go.

Thanks KK (I've decided to bold and colour names now, your signature i know, but i like it  ) Thats an interesting way to look at it, christmas colours! Tis the season to be jolly... fa la la la la LA LA! I'lld efinate ask if i could get the coloured ligs on my upper molars out though. I say go for it, christmas only comes aorund once a year, and will go with all your accessories.

It would be lovely if somehow i could get my hands on large sums of money, then i could have the surgery sooner!.... ahhh... im dreamin...

Im not sure sorry. All i know there were two kinds of green. One was called lime. Im not sure which one i got. But there was two shades, i chose the darker one, but it always seems like the ligs go a lighter colour when they are on my teeth.

thanks for the kind words. I absolutely love how my teeth are straight now and when i smile in pictures, although there is a streak of metal going across my teeth, it still looks good!

Im looking forward to seeing what my surgeon will have to say about it and whats going to happen.

hey you got two beautiful arches there... like in those ads for transparent braces :) the light green color is nice. did you try if it is black light sensitive? there are colors that glow in black light! should be nice for a party or the disco LOL.

i am jealous!! i wanted color too but it just made my teeth look more crooked so i took metal ligs. :?

Looking forward to hearing about it!
After a long excrutiating wait in the lobby, i went in for my appoinment. The surgeon immediately examined the condition of my jaw and teeth. He ask me to clench my teeth. Looked this way and that way. Pinched my lips and squeezed my chin.

He said that my teeth have progressed greatly. He said i would also require genio to enhance my chin because he said i ahve a slight jaw difficiency and i would look more 'blokey' and the end result would be supreme. We immediately set a date. MAY 24. :D

Im glad he mentioned the genio because i had a feeling that my chin wouldnt look that nice if it wasnt enhanced. So my uppers will be moved forward and my bottoms will be moved back.

8) Another 6 months and 6 days to go.

Congrats Nahky on getting a surgery date.

I'm STILL waiting for mine, 8 months after I should have had surgery(It was initially supposed to be in April this year). I have a bottom molar that is taking an age to get into the right position. Hopefully on the next visit, it will be in the right position to get a bracket on and bring it in to line with the rest.

I'm so jealous, as i feel as if i have had the Sword of Damocles hanging over my head for so long. Its really frustrating, but I'm still hoping to have my surgery before June next year, as I'm up for another $1500 for the next 6 months top hospital cover, and don't want to have to pay $3000 for another year when June comes.

I know May seems ages away, but you will find that the time will go quickly. Just look back and think how quickly your teeth have moved into position and keep busy - and the time will fly past.

Thanks KK and Chrisk

Chrisk, its true, 6 months isnt very long to wait. the thing is that Uni will begin in march, where i'll meet a whole bunch of new people, and then my uni will be disrupted and my face will make a dramatic change during that period. Its just a predicament i have. Thats why it would have been such a convenience if i could have had it during the holidays, before i met anyone new, so i wont have to explain my absense and my newly tranformed face (mouth). I know im kinda whinging a bit because im fortunate to have come this far already and be able to fix my problem jaw at a young age too.

Im seriously thinking of defering next year becasue of this, or find a way to ditch my insurance and just pay for everything upfront. Its not logical i know...

Oh, I just have to mention this in case I forget the next time I see you online:
I don't know if you remember.. but do you recall that girl I told you that has braces and after summer, it looked liek she gained 20 lbs all in her face? And I was saying maybe she had jaw surgery?
Well, recently me and my friends were talking about her and one of them told me apparently she heard from someone else she had 'jaw sugery' because her 'jaw was all scrwed up'. Can you believe I was actually right? haha, anyway, gosh, I hope I don't end up with sucha swollen face. Yeup, that's my random story!

Thats really funny SMile. You have the 6th Sense! Well hopefully she likes heaps better now. Im going to be buying products from zip-n-squeeze, the bags to eat easily with and the brace to wrap around my jaw to prevent major swelling, hopefully it works.

Well, had an adjustment on friday thr 16th Dec. Was a non-event once again. I changed back into purple ligs, they are the best colour for me. My Orth said hes just putting things in a holding position until the time for surgery. So nothing but lig changes get done at adjustments.

My teeth are pretty much full on straight. Which is kinda boring... 5 months to go now. Was a quick month since i last posted.

BTW- GOODLUCK TO CASSAD for his surgery in 2 days! He has the same surgery as me by the same surgeon! Hope it all goes well mate! ...for your sake and mine
