hey I just got mine on! It was nice to read about someone who didn't get extractions either...my ortho was very against it because he is worried about drooping lips at an older age. But it just seems like everyone gets extractions and it makes things look like they go a lot faster! I can't really imagine mine moving...Its hard to tell where they would go!

Any one have any ideas on some foods to eat..besides milkshakes I'm running out of options!

Shannon,

I didn't know that you was having such a hard time for the past 3 week!!! I'm so sorry to hear about this!!!!

It has been a few days now since you had your bottom expander put on how are you doing? Are you still in a lot of pain? Does the new expander feel better than the old one? (Sorry I have a million and one questions)

At least you got good news in your visit about the coils coming off!

One Month Update!

#33 Post by braces4astw22 »

Misery,

Yes I struggled pretty bad for the first 3 weeks. I had the bottom expander off after the first week, had it off for two weeks to let my tongue heel and I developed some real nasty canker sores in my mouth which were no fun.. but im happy to say Im braced a month today and everything is going good..

The new expander is a much better fit and although its a pain in the butt and I still cant talk all that well at least I can eat and swallow without physical pain.. Im hoping they hurry up and do there job so the expanders can come out..

One month update:

I have seen a tonne of movement in my teeth and still have that huge gap but I know the braces are doing their job and will move that tooth where it needs to go.. I think all of us are just impatient and want to see it happen right away.. I guess im a bit disappointed that I havent seen any movement between one of my front teeth and the one that is next to it.. they are jammed very tight and really thats the only place I havent noticed some movement.. the coil is still very tight where as the rest of my top and even bottom teeth there is a some good space there.. of course the teeth that I havent seen any movement with are the ones that have always bothered me the most when I look in the mirror.. so im hoping after my first adjustment they will be on the move..

I am ready to have these coils off though I am hoping the ones on the bottom can come off as well but I will see what the ortho has to say on July 8th.. Although I have been keeping myself hydrated.. the coils are sticking to the inside of my mouth leaving little impressions...

Im eating pretty normally these days. Still cutting everything up nice and small and taking my time. Its interesting how much better food tastes when you do this. Seems like I appreciate the taste of food more since im just not able to shove it in and devour  Over all I am happy how things are going and im really looking forward to my first adjustment.. I will post some pics when I update after my first adjustment in a few weeks...

shannon, i've got a similar situation (in many ways). The whole "why aren't THESE teeth moving?" thing can become quite irritating. I completely agree. Try to concentrate on the ones that ARE moving. It helps keep you feeling positive and you get to see that things are happening. The others will get there in time.

Keep up with the hydration! It'll help in a lot of ways.

I haven't been very good about cutting my food up  Sounds like I'm missing out on the taste of food ;)

Looking forward to your post-adjustment picture update!
Christopher

Hey Ken and Chris

Thanks you guys for checking in on me.. I dont know why but this weekend has been a weekend from hell with these braces.. I dont know if its normal to everyone once in a while go through a phase like this.. but my mouth has been really stiff and my lovely coils no matter now much water I drink still stick to the inside of my lips and rip off  .. these damn expanders are getting in the way of everything and my tongue was burnt a few days ago on a baked potato so its sensitive.. just not having a very good time with them this weekend.. I have been trying to eat with not much luck and get really frustrated...

Im trying to keep the faith and hang in there.. just keeping drinking my water and start up with the salt water rinses again.. I think my skin loves me its so clear from all the water.. my skin hasnt been this clean since I had my daughter and was on IV fluids for two days  keeping my chin up and hoping the next two weeks before my adjustment go smoother than this weekend..

I'm having a frustrating weekend also, but it helps knowing I'm not alone! I'm only on day 5 of my braces, but this is my second time around. Hang in there and vent to the board....we're all going through similar experiences so we know sometimes you just feel awkward, uncomfortable, and aggravated.

I just read your last post. First off let me say Happy 1st Month Braceaversary!!!

Me and Jenny were late. I'm not getting any notifications either!!!!! I don't know what is going on. Something just told me to go into the website today and check on you.

I'm so sorry that you had a bad weekend with your braces last weekend. Did you call your dentist to let them know that you are having the same problem again? Just when I was thinking things was getting better for you!!!!! :(

Hey Jenny and Misery

I really think this past weekend was just a bad phase maybe my teeth were moving alot because im feeling much better these past few days and I did notice my coiled archwire on the top of one side of my mouth seems alot straighter YAY... I guess I will be just one of those people when things are on the move in my mouth I will feel it...

As for pics.. I dont plan on taking any until after my first adjustment. I am really hopeful some of these coils will come off so I want to save my progress pics for after that.. because I hate the coils...its less than two weeks away and then we can all see what my toofers have been up to lately.. im sure I will still have all my nice lovely gaps to show off

Thanks for the support everyone... no one can really understand what im going through except for you guys.. so I really do appreciate all the kindness!

Shannon,

I'm so happy to hear that you are feeling much better!!! To be honest with you for some weird reason I have some soreness in my mouth as well. I'm kinda happy about that. I guess that is a sign to let me know that my teeth are moving as well.

I'm just like you....I'm not going to post any pic's until my next adjustment.

I'm so happy that you are feeling much better!!!!

well today is the big day.. my 1st adjustment!! my appointment is at 3pm cst.. im excited but a bit nervous.. I know the first time they took off the bottom wire to fix up my expander and put it back on wasnt very pleasant.. but brits right lol no pain no gain..

im getting excited to kiss some of these coils good bye and it would be nice if its all of them but we shall see. I am seeing lots of movement and actually I was visiting a friend of mine over the long weekend I havent seen in months and she thinks my teeth are straighter.. it was really nice to hear that to others think they are looking better.. its a bit harder for me to tell since I stare at them every day...

I had a tooth that was pretty achy yesterday but nothing a little bit of pain medication didnt fix...

well I will go for now but post an update and some new pics once I get this adjustment over with.. thanks for listening :D

Okay so my first adjustment went okay... I sort of expected it to be uncomfortable just happy its over with... The wire wasnt changed but several spring coils were taken off.. hard to tell from my previous pics but my entire mouth was basically coils now I just have one left on the top and bottom hopefully they will do their work and come off when I have to go back in 6 weeks... so im very happy about that
They did add these small elastic type thingies on a few of my bottom teeth, I dont know what they are called or what they are for but the dr advised the assistant I needed some. I also have what looks like little rounded stoppers at one of the ends of each coil...

There was alot of pressure and pulling on things to get the coils off and these new things in place.. my teeth are very sore and achy tonight especially the top ones that still are overlapping bad, but pain is good right?? I took some pics I can see that both of my arches are rounding out better.. although im not really seeing the movement in those front top teeth like I want to... but we shall see what happens by next adjustment.. im going to post both starting and just adjustment pics for comparison...
